I give you guys one week to remove them :=) (I know how to find out when a site had what on it ) Mike
Results 1 - 10 of about 182,000 for directorycontest.com http://www.google.com/search?client...=en&q=directorycontest.com&btnG=Google+Search It seems that the G results over the last several days have steadied around the 182,000 to 183,000 Indexed on G for for the keywords directorycontest.com
I am getting a lot of silly requests such as ¨Can you put me on the special thanks list if I sponsor you with 50 bucks?¨ So let me tell you guys what it takes to sponsor the contest if you are still interested. Now that the contest is doing very well, many want to be added onto the list of sponsors here http://www.directorycontest.com/?page_id=3 In order to get on the list, you need to pledge a minimum cash prize of $100.00 You can pledge less by announcing it here: http://www.frogengine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=638 All cash contributions for less than $100.00 will be added to the total winnings of the first place winner. You can also add non cash contributions in the same thread. A complete list of all contributions will be compiled before the contest is over, and believe me, the list is HUGE!!!!! So if you haven´t added your contribution in the thread, please do so. There is a small chance that I have some buried in my PM box, and I have received a ton of PMs and emails regarding the contest lately. If you wish to pledge the amount of $100.00 or more, please email with the subject title ¨Sponsorship¨ and I will get back with you shortly. Please, no goofball requests Thanks a lot everyone. We have a new 1st place leader according to the current rankings. http://www.google.com/search?q=dire...=&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-42,GGLJ:en&start=10&sa=N
Exactly, Amit GII.in is the new number 1. About me... oh well, I'm climbing steadly and should hit top 20 soon. We'll see in the end... Bwahahahahaha!
Guys the lead keeps changing but Amit has hit the front with the directory www.gii.in But there is still a long time to go, and for sure he will have lots of directories that will want to knock him off the #1 Spot
Amit is on top now, will have to take a closer look at his site to make sure he doesn´t violate any rules
And I have replied. And in addition I need to add that many of the directories in the top 5 pages of the Google results are in violation of rules and won´t qualify for the prize. I will get into details later about it. The rules are to have a regular or a featured listing, no other on page seo is permitted.
Wouldn't the damage be done since its getting closer to the dead line? I wonder if google will realize the contest rules? Just my thought....
Google´s job is to sort out which directories are the most successful. Mine is to make sure that directories are not using any on site seo. Like I have said before, you can have a bunch of incoming links from other sites. If you are well connected and know how to get ranked for the term, then chances are you are able to rank your directory and know how to make Google like it. But when it comes to issues such as link on the directory to your category with the anchortext ¨directorycontest.com¨, then that really optimizes your directory in an unnatural way.
Excellent post Blogmaster clears up a lot of queries Thanks We are not entered only a Sponsor but we like to follow what's happening
Shouldn't the updated rules be posted in the contest web site? I wouldn't expect all current participants to subscribe to this thread to get updated on the rule changes.
I will do that. But the rules are not really new since I have said from day 1 that I want regular or featured listings. The listing should be treated as you would treat any other site submitted to your directory. Unless every featured listing receives a sitewide on the entire directory using the name of the site as an anchor, this is not what the contest was laid out to be And like I have stated, I am looking at a few directories having hidden text and links on their directories. I know what to look for, and out of the current top 10, only 7 are actually eligible for the prizes. Anyways, good luck to all of you. Sorry if I have caused any confusion. I will also mention on the blog that this is now the official thread about the contest. I don´t really have time anymore to attend other forums, not even my own Thanks everyone, keep asking questions, and I will make a long post on my blog about the rules. Mike Added: Just looked at your directory, Romow, and things are looking good Thanks.
I agree thats the impression that i got and as you mention the rules are not new. So why are they not illuminate from the contest? At least half of them on the 1st and 2nd page have backlinks. Lore
What is this at the bottom of his directory: Copyright 2006 Romow.com, All Rights Reserved. DirectoryContest.com Looks like a backlink....
You can get backlinks, just not from your directory. I have given everyone a week to remove them. But those who are using hidden text and links, I won´t even warn. Well I guess I just did to some extent. I am really interested on a personal level to find out which directories are most benefitting and want a contest that reflects this as much as possible. Aside from running Frog Engine, I also submit to a lot of directories, both free and paid. Having spent money on people submitting for me and doing my research overall, there is only a dozen or so directories that I recommend for submissions without wasting your time. I know there are many more, and that is what this contest is all about. The top prize winners will not only get the prize, but everyone will know that they are liked by search engines.
