    Hi all,
I have a website CouponsMasti which got penalized in 2013(Penguin Update- all keywords were lost). I removed many links and also used disavow tool to remove bad links. Now that website is again back in SERP.
Now i wanted to know that is there any worth on working for that website or i should just ignore that website and stop working for it(Stop SEO)
    Thanks to everyone in advance

If the changes you have made so far seam to be bringing it back to the SERPs, why stop now? If you removed/disavowed links and still didn't see any improvement then maybe, but it's worth working on if you're seeing results from the work you've started putting in so far.

If you are serious for your business or want to grow it then there is no point in stopping it.

Keep in mind that many sites hit by penalties later come back in the SERPs - especially if they take corrective action. Get into your Webmaster Tools account and do what's asked of you. It may not be immediate but your rankings will come back.

    Thanks to all.
But my point is that i have heard that it is more difficult to rank a penalized website then to rank a new domain. As i already have multiple domains of same kind and i don't want to waste my time in reaching 1st page. presently most of my keywords are on 3rd page. So if i start working can my keywords can reach to the 1st page.

    Hey Himanshu,

Just think about the work you've already put into your existing site. If you're already back up to Page 3, then things must be going well with your recovery. Dig into your Webmaster Tools and keep climbing those rankings!

You can only answer this by yourself and its not on our decision whether to just ignore or stop working in your website. If this site doesn't help your product and services campaign then you need to work on it unless if you have a new website.

I won't stop if I am serious with my business. If the website is NEW, no problems at all, drop it in the "recycle bin" and start a new project, but if you were working on your project in the past few years, why stop now? You should do your best to unsuspend your website! ;)

The theory about penalized sites not being able to rank as well is false.

First thing, rankings of a site will always be contingent upon what you are doing to get it ranked. Whether the site has previously been penalized or not holds no weight over the matter.
If you are administering black hat SEO tactics then your site will more than likely be penalized again. However, Google will not give your site any negative treatment or consider it as an inferior site in comparison to a site of equal value just because it has been penalized.

Another reason that I recommend you sticking with the current site, other than the obvious reason of you having to spend some serious time disavowing links, it is just not practical to go with a new domain or site over an established site.

The truth is that Google favors sites with a history over sites without any history. An analogy that I can use to help you understand this better would be that of consumers and credit. If you have bad credit it is better than having "no credit."
You are more likely to get a credit card, or even a loan (in some cases) with bad credit, over someone without a credit history whatsoever.
Don't get me wrong, there are other factors that will be considered in this example just as there are factors that Google takes into consideration when determining your sites ranking.
Although it is true that your site does have a spotty record, you took the time and effort to clean it up which shows Google that you value your site, and that you will not be making the same mistakes again.
You took responsibility and paid for your actions. Anyone that has ever had to disavow links before or fix a penalized site can tell you that it is a major punishment. I can think of a billion better things to do with my time, and a lot of webmasters simply dump the site and start over.

Since you went through all the trouble of actually sticking with it, you are getting a 2nd chance and your slate has been wiped clean.

Here are some more things to consider: where was your site before the penalty? Better yet, how was your site performing prior to being juiced up with the spammy links?

This is important to consider before you ever begin to disavow any links because if your site wasn't ranking well before receiving that artificial boost then it will not be ranking well after those links are disavowed.
So essentially, you will be investing a lot of time that you could be using to start fresh and properly optimize a new site.
In your case, the hard work has already been done though. So now, you do have a site that you have invested a lot of time on, and at the same time since the penalty has been lifted the site can simply be looked at as established and therefore with proper marketing and SEO will surely hold an advantage over any new site that will be starting from the bottom.
