    I want to sell ads directly on my blog. How should i insert advertisement banners link on my blog that it would not affect my search traffic and also google won't penalize me?

    Google could care less about your selling ads on your blog.

    Your ads will probably be placed using javascript and will have identifiers that google will know and will ignore that content

    Why do you want Google to not see the ad links?

    Placing banners on your website does not affect search traffic - SEO will affect your search traffic. Google does not penalize for placing advertsiments on your website. Google likes it:http://www.google.com/adsense/start/ And doesn't care.

    You could use javascript to hide a link from the search engines which I know will not be necessary:
    window.location.replace("http://stackoverflow.com");
    Code (JavaScript):
    If you don't want Google to index/rank pages that you link to you could use the nofollow attribute in the A tag;
    <a href="ignorethis.html" rel="nofollow">Don't index me!</a>

    The same kind of things that adblockers use to remove your ads. Research "how do adblockers work"

    I think placing banners is not an issue (unless there are so many of them, in which ads are more than the content) when it comes for Google to penalize you. I would suggest that you would limit your banner advertising to the following (depends on the structure of your site):

    - 1 top banner (468x60) or leaderboard (728x90)
    - 2 to 4 side banners (300x250)
    - 1 footer banner (468x60 or 728x90)

    I hope this helps you a lot. Good luck and cheers!

    Just tag banners with "no-follow" sentence and don't worry. ;)

    Have you tried working on social media websites? They can be an effective way in driving traffic to your website.
