Hi DP, Noob question. I see a lot of people talking about "tiered" link building. Can someone explain this method? Also what's the difference between Tier 1, Tier 2, etc.
Standart networks are often consisted of 3-4 tiers, with Tier 1 top level and the rest lower level in the pyramid. Tier 3 lowest level - you can blast it with links from tools and other crap, linking to Tier 2 and to other Tier 3 sites Tier 2 - mid level - can be expired domains + mix of semi exact match - here mainly links come from tier 3 sites + some paid links to spice up the mix Tier 1 - top tier - money sites - mix of paid links, tier 2 links, social links and etc - here the quality is what matters, not quantity. Sometimes you get links from other Tier 1 sites from other network - yours or some partntner's site. This is just general explanation, building networks is complex thing so the above is not a guide, it is just the basics.
You did not actually explain what tiered link building is. He cannot understand from that. A simpler explanation: Tier 1 link - the link that comes directly to your site or pages from your site Tier 2 link - a link that goes to a Tier 1 link Tier 3 link - a link that goes to a Tier 2 link and so on Now you can make more sense of what superme said. Hopefully, it helps!
Great explanation. Just to add that those tier2 links that links to your Tier1 site should be quality with GOOD content, do not use SPUN content for them!
I feel a lot of of the info is missing So you have your main site and the 3 tiers linking-why? You hopefully know that links build authority, no longer PR but Page Authority and Domain Authority A lot of platform already have fairly good DA, such as wordpress, youtube etc etc The problem is their PA is fairly low, so the link to you is pretty weak (You might have youtube videos linking to you site, but they are nowhere near as powerful as a high ranked and linked video) By improving the PA of these tier 1 link, you essentially have a link to you that is now much more powerful So, you send tier 2 links to these tier 1 links to make them grow nice and strong Now, when a site has a spammy link profile, ie those linksa re all the same random rubbish etc, it can actually get penalised You dont want that to happen to your site at all But You dont mind risking your tier 1 links to your site So you can go ahead and send a heap of links to your tier 1 to boost them up The 3rd tier is generally 10x the amount of links going to your tier 2 This in essence can boost them up also (So your tier 1 is even more powerful again) But generally its so that your tier 2 links get indexed as well as your tier 1 and your site sees the boost (Sometimes ofc links take a while to index) Hope that helps! Daniel
Well, I have a series of books about tiered link building but how can i share it here ? updated: I found a site (not mine), but it is good as reference..
