    depends where you are posting
If you are posting at examiner.com than it is better than publishing an article on ezinearticles

I don't think it really matters whether you decide to pick blog posts or articles as far as the content is engaging or interesting and you're following the right SEO techniques. Good ranking and high traffic will automatically follow whatever the case. (I've never heard of the word 'article post', but for the sake of conversation, I'm assuming that you simply mean *articles* by this term.)
Rather, you should focus more on finding answers to questions like 'How can I get over my competitors by employing only unique and high-quality content?', 'How can I build authoritativeness in my niche?', 'What will keep my visitors coming to my site?' 'What are the techniques apart from backlinking, article submission on directories, use of social media and SEO that I can engage to reach out to a vaster crowd and market my products/services better?' etc.

There are various factors that come in picture when deciding which one is better, but we'll limit our scope only to the basic concepts. Let's try to analyze and compare both structurally so that you have a better understanding of which to prefer.
    Articles
    • An article is usually a lengthy piece of content. Though there is no standard word count or length, webmasters typically put up an article that's at least 400 words long. The length of some articles exceeds even 2500 words!
    • Articles are basically meant to inform the reader about a specific theme, topic or subject.
    • They're written in a formal tone.
    • They're usually detailed and based on factual evidences with references to them.
    • Articles are more authoritative in nature.
    • An article is not updated as frequently as a blog post.
    Blog posts
    • Blog posts are pieces of content that are usually shorter in length as compared to articles. Again, there is no standardized word limit a blog post should have but you'll typically find that most of them lie in the range of 200 to 600 words.
    • Blog posts are meant to provide individual views of the author (who can be a single person or a group of persons) on the topic in question and to establish a personal connection with the audience.
    • They are written in a more casual, interactive and a conversational style.
    • They are based more on personal experiences rather than on factual evidences.
    • It is NOT necessary that a blog post is always authoritative.
    • Blog posts have to be updated on a frequent or even a day-to-day basis.

There's really no universal answer to your question whether to choose blog posts or articles because it will depend entirely on what your website deals with. E.g. if it's a website that has been launched with the intention of educating laymen on what the basics of insurance are, the types of policies that are available, how to choose one wisely by evaluating and comparing different quotations etc., the content on such a site is bound to be informative and using articles (as they are meant to provide detailed information about a subject) instead of blog posts would be a better choice for this site. On the other hand, if you want to set up a website where people can come to know about the experiences consumers have about various services and policies of different insurance companies operating in the market, it would become more of a review portal and blog posts (as they are meant to provide a personal view of something like a product, service or commodity) would suit such a site more than articles. If it's a website that combines both, using articles on the home page and adding a separate reviews section to it where blog posts are put up would be the best idea.

Whatever you decide, make it a point that you provide only up-to-date, correct and relevant information by properly obtaining necessary permissions and crediting the sources. Always ensure that your content is to the point and not filled with fluff. Try to impart some value to your niche and your brand image will automatically improve.

    My 2c. Hope this helps.

I would say it's better to post content in his own blog than doing article marketing (as it's not so effective as it was in the past...) :)

If you have a blog of your own then obviously you don't need to ask this that where to post. Also, it totally depends how popular your content get? You can post it to the blog and try to make some engagement on it. Your work will be done in no time.

It's not matter that you pick blog post or article post. It's totally depend upon content for ranking and traffic gain.

Oh My God, I never though that questions like this would have this lengthy answer until I came through your reply. This was really awesome read and great information.

However both blog post and Article would create equal value to the linking page in my opinion, something that would matter could be the quality of the page that sends the link juice.

Always prefer the one you have more control over. In other words, content on your property rather than on 3rd party site like ezines

I think @Content Maestro nailed it, articles and blog posts are two different things. One is about timeliness (blog posts) and one is about evergreen content (articles). Decide which your content is and use the one that best suits the nature of your content.

One of the best answer that it is depend on you that where you are posting. Second thing is your content if you have quality content and your posting your content on the bad quality website then this is totally worthless. Your informative post always attract users so always post your content on quality sites.

Both are very useful and depends upon your website functionality like if your website related to content so you should choose article posting technique or if your website is based on graphics or images so use blog posting because article post has no limit its upto 2500 words or more but in case of blog posting its vary 400- 1000 words.
