There are 2 types of Yahoo Answers users.
1. People who are registered there and use Yahoo Answers to gain more
knowledge or just to know about new things or simply anything on
regular basis.
2. People who come to read and use Yahoo Answers in coincidence. You
might have experienced yourself while searching for some keywords,
phrases or something else on Search engines and then in response to
search made by you, Google has displayed content from Yahoo Answers.
These people are occasional users of Yahoo Answers.

It is said that 25 million people use Yahoo Answers alone in United States
However the regular and occasional users are several times more than this
around the globe.

I'd say that Yahoo Answer does have potential for Internet marketers, however its quite limited. Being a new brand you'll want to spread the word about yourself on a broad field. Although there are many different methods that are more relevant, Yahoo A. can be a helpful hand. However established brands that want more exposure will hardly benefit. The key is the business niche you are in. Some businesses can easily be involved in many questions, thus working for the ultimate goal, but there are such that cannot use this platform at its capacities. Webhosting is a good example of such.

The same thing goes about similar services like Quora, and the new Jelly, developed by some of the Twitter geeks. The purpose is clear, it is greatly beneficial for the end user, but not so much for the ones that wanted to use it for advertizing their services.

 

I have used yahoo answers. I like answering questions and helping people out but I don't see it as a good venue to promote a website.

You can try but it has a very limited reach. I would prefer to be active in forums that's related to my niche.

Your links can be used in between but be sure you use it very rarely and along with other site's relevant links...

yahoo answers means knowledge marketing. there are many different categories and subcategories. User are given answer by knowledge. user also asks the question. He/She gain points when he/she gives answer. it divides into 7 level . yahoo give target like 1 level target is 250 point etc. then why we use it answer is that it is just not revenue ad and increase the traffic and promotion of yahoo products

 

I tried promoting a Hosting site on Yahoo answers but got no traffic from them. I wonder why a popular site as that of YA gave no traffic to me.

 

Yahoo answers is a platform where you answer questions or ask any questions the yahoo community. Yahoo users will answer your questions that's when you get your Answers. At first I didn't understand it but as time went on I found it helpful and you can ask anything that you're not sure of. Hope that answers your question.
