How to add a site to Google Webmaster Tools

    Hi,

    So I've never done this before b/c I hired others to do it, so can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to add the GWTs code to the site if it's a WordPress site.

    The sites are added to GWTs, but I don't know where the code goes on the site to verify it.

    GWT offers I think three ways to verify you are the site owner. I prefer downloading the html file, Google shows an according link after adding a site. Just upload this html file to the directory where your wordpress installation resides and then go back to GWT and click the verify button. I hope this helps you.

    Happy that you found it. Basically the best way to do it is to upload the verification file to your site's root.

    Try using the method where you have to install Google Analytics and copy the code on your WordPress site. That should help you verify your site in Google Webmaster.

    If you're using WordPress SEO by Yoast (very useful tool for SEO), you can select the "alternative" method tab to verify your account, and select verify via html. Simply copy the meta tag and paste it into a box within the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin and voila, your site will be verified.

    It is easy for site owner, just download a verification file from GWT and upload it to home folder. For blogger there's an option to add meta tag code to the template, then click Verify button at GWT

    for adding a site to google webmaster tool, first of all you have to submit site into 'submit URL' or 'google ping',
    so your site has been automaticly added into google webmaster tool.

    If you have WP Platform then its very easy. You can install a WMT plugin or Google analytic plugin. After that you just have to put the code into that plugin setting. You do not need to go to coding section of website to find our head section.
