Hello. I wanted to build a simple and efficient calorie counter. Please try it and tell me your suggestions from improvement. Would you use it if you were trying to lose weight ? Link here: http://www.calotor.com/calorie-counter/
I've tried a few of these and usually give up in frustration after a few days because the products are usually American brands not available where I live and I have to do a ton of data entry before the tool can be useful. For breakfast this morning I had muesli - nothing came up Last night I cooked up spicy chicken breasts with capsicum, red onions and baby potatoes. Using your tool I couldn't work out what to choose for chicken breasts, it knew about capsicum, no joy on red onions (a household staple). Potatoes were ok but surely real food should come higher on the list than over processed crap? For things like honey that you add by the teaspoon or tablespoon it would be more appropriate to allow that measure (but I do like that it's metric) This probably doesn't fit with your idea of simple and efficient but someone needs to build a more intuitive version that doesn't take all day to do the data entry if you eat real food.
Thanks for trying it out. It definitely needs a lot of work. I will try to see if I can find more sources to get the nutrition data for. Right now the data is taken from a US organization. Regarding the priority, I will work to improve the priority in which the processed food is shown last. Thank you for your time.
I have to agree with the points that Sarahk made in regards to measurements and the addition of more items. However, I did find my last three meals using the counter and I liked how you could add each item to a master list. With a few measurement tweaks and some additional data, I think you have a winner.
The OP still has to compete against sparkfitness and similar site, all those apps and establish a point of difference before we can declare it a "winner". Just when you think everything has been done someone before someone finds a new way of looking at a problem - and that, for a while, is a winner.
Thank you for testing and feedback. I am happy that you was able to find your last meals. If you create an account on our website, you can save your data and you can view it later, or change foods you entered yesterday or any other day. I am flattered to being referred as "winner". I wanted to build something easy for me, my friends and anyone who wants to give it a try. Your feedback encourages me to put more work into this project.
