I hate the white background on colored ad units.

Here's another thought though - if they made the links referral links and we got the $100 payout when publishers got to their first $100 earnings it wouldn't be quite so hard to swallow.

I notice that this is what other ad networks are starting to do (Chitika for one).

But really - I'd like to option to switch them off - it goes against the whole 'blended' ad design that I try to achieve and that Google promotes.

Apparently, they did some experiments with a few ideas. I personally like the small logo typeface "Google" in black. It's not distracting yet interesting compared with the old boring Goooogle or Google plain text. Forgot to take a screencap, anyone has it?

    Darren,

Good to see you posting here...a surprise indeed. :)

As one of the larger earners... you cannot turn off the ads by Google display???

    Good job on the email...

Just a silly question but why not post the answer in this thread instead of going for the adsense share and starting a new thread ?? :p

I wrote to them telling them I didn't like it. This was their response:

It wouldn't be so bad if they used a transparent gif, but that white background is crappy on anything other than white.

Some of my adsense ads started showing a new tag on them today. Instead of the old "Ads by Google" text, these get "Ads by GOOGLE" where the GOOGLE part is a small multicoloured image of the Google logo. It stands out about 10 times more than the old tag line. It only appears occassionally, so must be a test by Googs.

    Anyone else seen this?
