We are into the month of November and the holiday season is just round the corner. What would be the perfect date and time frame to pitch in a promotional holiday card for a business venture dealing in ecommerce?

I'd do it now. The holiday related spending spree mood is already out there.

I personally would wait until early December to send out a holiday card. I do not recall ever receiving a holiday card before Thanksgiving.

A holiday-themed message of some sort (not a card,) would be different and I would then agree with @qwikad that it could go out now.

So.... when you're walking through your local mall and see all the Christmas decorations, Christmas sales and hear Christmas music playing you resent it and think it's premature? In @Alex Steven 's place I'd send one card now and another one later. But that's just me. I am always for MORE advertising not LESS.

Actually, I do not like Christmas decorations early in stores, but have become numb to them after so many years of stores putting them up in September. And, obviously, they do so because it works. But, again, I was talking about receiving an actual holiday card (be it hardcopy or virtual) before Thanksgiving. I don't recall ever receiving one before Thanksgiving. However, as I think about it, I have received a very small number of Thanksgiving cards from vendors in November. They used the occasion to thank me for my business and point out any special end of the year promotions, etc. That might be am interesting angle for the OP.

On a completely different note, I listen to a radio station in the morning and while driving that, sometime just after Thanksgiving, goes into an all Christmas music format. They play thousands of different holiday songs and I enjoy it throughout the whole season. Drives my wife absolutely nuts to hear Christmas songs on the radio before mid-December, which is another plus, of course. :)

I would say now. and more if you need to as it gets closer to the holiday season. And believe me when I say there are people out there already taking advantage of the holiday season shopping.

December 1st i'd be on the grind. You should hit up your customers with direct mail postcards (or even letters), along with tons of free gifts via email. Anything you can find to tie in with your holiday "special or discount" will be great. Make sure it's a good deal, and that you get good profits from it though. I'd say contact them every 2 days until Christmas.... then have a "New Year's Blowout Sale". Use your imagination.
