I don't have a clear idea of what I'm looking for, but I want a logo image that can be used for three different sites, all relating to web directories. Two of the sites are in my signature, the other one is a forum that I am rebuilding. Since my logos will be horizontally oriented, I can add the lettering myself, but I need a logo symbol with a transparent background, as it will be used on a white background and on a black background. I will be using it on web only, but it needs to size well, at least from 30 pixels to 200. I am not looking for something just like what I have but if you look at my sites, that's the idea of it -- a graphic to the left and the lettering to the right, only I can add the lettering. In some cases, I may want to use the graphic alone. I'm not absolutely stuck on the idea but I sort of like the retro look, although I'd rather have it sharp than with a grunge look. As an example, I like most of the logos on this page but again, I don't need words, and I could steal them myself if I wanted to steal them. I offer this just to show the sort of thing that I think I'm looking for. I'll be up for a while yet tonight, but I am human and I do sleep, so please don't rant if you don't get feedback right away. No stock images, please. I could buy them myself. 48 hours, with payment via PayPal.
I am going to extend this to 72 hours because I just learned that I am going to be away from my computer for the first part of the day, Monday.

That's catchy, weakpa2, but not really what I was looking for. I'm looking for a graphic that I can add words to, so that I can use it on at least three different sites in the network. Does anyone have anything that has a retro look, in line with some of the ones that I referred to when I linked to this page? Again, I'm not stuck on that but would like to see something along those lines.
You must have been posting that while I was writing my last response, because it wasn't there when I started. That's a clever use of the "W" because yes, each of my sites does being with a W. I'm not sure if it's just what I want, but I like it. I was having so much trouble on DP earlier that I hadn't noticed the use of the "W" on your first try. So far, I like both of your designs. Could I see something with perhaps a hint of purple?

I’ll have to make a decision soon but this what my thought are right now. adwaitk007 — I like your first one, but I'm not sure yet. weakpa2 — nice, but kind of a new-aged look guideline — (your first one) — since I’ll be using it for three different sites, perhaps another later, I wouldn’t need the lettering part but I like the graphic; however, I would need something with the same look that would work on a black background. krishmk — nice, but not what I’m looking for. cosmin90 — to be honest, I’m not sure what I think. guideline — (your second entry) — I kind of like it but I don’t know what I’d want the banner to say, since only one of my sites that I’d be using it on uses a WDR. kingchaarli — The one with the fingers kind of reminds me of the screaming meanies, which isn’t a bad thing, but I couldn’t use the lettering, and on a black background, the black portion would be lost. The other one, no; the building motif doesn’t fit.
Could I see this one without the black rectangle and the "Web Directory Reviews" wording? I know it's not retro in the way that I thought I wanted it to be, but it does remind me of the Screaming Meanies from the Yellow Submarine, I think it was, and that's sort of retro. I'm leaning toward this one right now.
