Hi I would like to know how to convert a word file into a pdf. I have been looking everywhere and only found commercial software (I need something free). The only one that i found didn't convert hyper links from the word document to hyper links in the pdf (it just made blue underlined text with no link)... any suggestions on getting a pdf convertor? Zach
If you have a Mac, you just change your printer to PDF (OS 9), or click on "Save to PDF" from the print dialogue box. From Windows, you should be able to find a free one eventually if you can get aroudn all the "pretend free" stuff. There are quite a few out there...
Thanks for the reply I use windows. I can't seem to find a good free one (ive been looking for days and downloaded at least 8)...
http://www.openoffice.org has this function built-in. You can also do it online at http://www.pdfonline.com/ and http://www.expresspdf.com/. Good luck.
I use ghostword from sourceforge (always a good start point for this kind of thing). I have an old licensed copy of Adobe Exchange which converted a long word document full of graphics into a 10 meg file. Ouch. Ghost has it a 448kb! No loss of quality.
OpenOffice, check it out. It´s free and really good! (the "Writer" program has this function where you can export a file as pdf)
I was never really that fond of Open Office. I always found it ran too slow, especially the PowerPoint clone.
I use cutepdf. www.cutepdf.com Free and works by you "printing" the document and then selecting CutePDF as the printer . . .then hitting print. It then converts the file for you. Skinny
thanks for the advice: ok, to sum it up: CutePDF - does NOT convert the hyperlinks the two online services - do NOT convert hyperlinks Ghost write - wont install on my office (and the latest version is about 4 years old...) Open Office - converts the hyperlinks correctly, BUT messes up my fonts (their verdana looks too big for my ebook) SO STILL LOOKING .....
You sure zach . . I just tested mine with Microsoft word and it works. I typed in my website and then printed it as a PDF. Now word automatically made it a link and the link works. edit: typed in www.gazotto.com Skinny
It works with URLs, but if you make a hyperlink with alt text like: www.gazotto.com but make it say Gazotto instead... it dosent work. Zach
