I uploaded a video to Amazon S3 at only 4 mps h.264, however when I add the video to my homepage, it doesn't buffer fast enough - it's streaming very slow? Would anyone have any advice? Thanks.
I have dealt with this a lot, and here's the solution (not sure if it's the best but works for me): 1. get handbreak it's free I use it on mac but i'm sure they have wondows version then shrink the file 2. get jwplayer 6 plugin for wordpress or not wordpress if that is not what you are using they have it for other platforms 3. get cloudberry then make a bucket for streaming 4. Then you need to setup the jwplayer to do RTMP streaming here are instruction from their site: http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1430349-about-rtmp-streaming I'm not technical but I got it to work what it does for you are 2 things: 1. It start instantly like i post hour long VSL's (video sales letters) they go instantly no buffering needed and people can forward (If I put those controls whcih you can remove if you want) 2. they can't download the video LIKE using plugins or download tools In any case if you figure it out it's fantastic, few marketers use this, but it's made a huge diference for me. Good luck. Dan
It's tricky till you do the first and get it working but with longer sales videos if it doesn't start instantly the visitors will exit the page often and your conversions will suck. With regular vids on S3 they have to download, buffer etc.. and it just takes to long that is why I switched to RTMP streaming the are fast. One more thing Amazon charges a penny or two more then regular but my bill is still low, so if find it worth it. Good luck I hope you make it work for you. Dan
For video streaming, it's best if you setup Amazon EC2 cloud. That adds more power to process your videos and serve to a large audience.
