Magento is the ideal solution for eCommerce, but be careful because you need lots and lots of resources to feed it (disk space, RAM, bandwidth...).
If you want to start small, I'd recommend Joomla. It's very easy to use and you have dozens of components to choose from.
    Good luck!

Joomla does require a bit of programming knowledge in my experience so depends how comfortable you are with that side of things. If you're a complete novice, perhaps start with a demo of Shopify or Bigcommerce. Good luck.

There's no answer to this question. People have been successful using any of these and other types of cart / ecommerce setups. A lot of it comes down to your technical ability to create and modify a cart and what options you have for hosting.

WooCommerce is a great shopping cart for WordPress users, and I would recommend it for any small to medium sized store. If you're going to run a huge online store then you will need Magento, but I have seen many large stores operate with WooCommerce.

Depends on your pocket. If you are a start-up with limited cash and man-power, go with SaaS based platform. These days SaaS based platforms have a lot to offer. Rather than assembling the entire website on Magento & Opencart, you get bundled features. Some SaaS based platfrom like Shopify, Martjack, Kartrocket get you pre-designed website, free payment gateways which normally costs Rs 50-60k. Platform like Kartrocket also provide automated shipping management. It reduces your effort & time. .....

    Hope it helps

    Regards

According to my point of view for beginners on starting ecommerce business it is too better to choose some free source for their business but note that such free sources are partially custom and controlled by users, also users may lose when site admin withdraw anyone of the applications are extensions and it is fully dependent.
Behind these, the custom ecommerce script or solution is better when compared to free sources, because it is totally independent and fully custom.

i strongly suggest to go with Magento commerce. There are even firms which offer shared hosting for Magento for small businesses and you can get support from the community as well.

    Good luck!!

If you prefer to go with SAAS , then you have to stick on to the predefined features and also will have lots of constraining in adding additional features also enhancing the business and in the changing business model.

Its better to go with some eCommerce clone script, which is cost effective and also convenient for customization.

The best from all three according to me is Magento. It is really a nice ecommerce website, as it is growing by time. With great difficulties we find the right ecommerce platform. magento is a versatile ecommerce content management, this platform is mobile friendly one should able to use this website very easily.
