Recently, I wonder is it fine to make money with a game guide? For example, there is a very popular strategy game. Then, I obtain the information of the strategy game then publish it on my site. So everyone who keep failing on certain level would look up my guide. Then, my site would generate money based on their visit. Secondly, I can sell the guide to the gamer to make money. My question is, will the strategy game company able to file a complaint and take down my site? Because I have generated money indirectly through their game.
If there is a market and people are willing to pay then yes. What I would recommend is first find out if anyone is successful at selling game guides, and if they are then there is a market and you can invest the time/money to make and promote one. Good luck.
As long as You wrote the article yourself, and there was no copyright infringement during the writing of the article, you're good. That's called content and If it brings in ad revenue thats fine as long as its your intellectual property.
game guides are very risky a company WOULD and WILL be able to file a complaint and take down your site.
Thank for everyone replies. I believe you are right. Game guide is very risky way to make money. It is because the game itself belongs to the game company. If my site makes little to no money, the game company may just ignore it. However, if the website starts making big money, the game company will go after it. So I think this may not be a good idea.
No its not the best of ideas the company would most likely send a DMCA notice first so it would depend on how you felt clearly once the notice was sent you would need to follow it.
