Do I need to upgrade my Firefox?

    Hi all,

As we all know, Firefox 2.0 is out and all this while I never upgraded from 1.5 because I dont see a reason to upgrade..

I wonder if I have to...I read in Wikipedia, it talks about the anti phishing, which although good, will it allow Google too much leeway to access our data and browsing habits?
 What does it really mean?

The Google Toolbar with PageRank meter is about as "scary." I wouldn't worry about it.

im about to get it right now, ive had ie7 freeze on me now for the 15th time.. its getting annoying.. its funny tho.. because on Vista RTM, its stable & dont freeze, but XP its another story.. I dont get why MS cant release something stable the first time. Ive had nothing but good results as far as firefox goes tho.

I think it means that google will eventually come out with a competitor to Alexa's rankings with this.

Google PR and Alexa rank are two different stories
and both are available in integrated for Firefox 2 and Mozilla in the new firefox plugin
Search Status: A Search Extension for Firefox and Mozilla
the tool also includes a backlink feature for all 3 major SE and other nice features

I haven't upgraded yet, but it seems like I should seriously consider doing it.

Yes upgrade if only for the lock-up save feature. For computers that lock-up alot Firefox now has a feature that saves all your tabs exactly as they were so you can get right back in to were you were. There is also a side dropdown with a list of all your tabs for those multi-tasking guys ;-)
I like it although I loved FF since I first got it. Also it seems(IMO) to run faster that older versions especially 1.5
-Inline spell-checking is also awesome. MS just can't compare.

Ohh btw this should not be in Google.

Thanks guys! I didnt know where to ask this question, if anyone got more feedback, send em in.. :D

PS: I think FF 1.5 has some problems with displaying certain Wordpress themes correctly, thats what I know and I'm hoping FF 2.0 will be better in this..

2.0 seems a lot more stable than 1.5, it has (fingers crossed) yet to crash on me yet, whereas older versions used to go down at least once a day, especially when I had a lot of tabs open or had been browsing for a while.

Firefox 2.0 is worth the download simply for it's built-in spell checker. If everyone at DP used Firefox (and actually used the spell checker) I think the forums would be a better place :)

I have never had a problem viewing any site in FF2.0.

Well now the new crash protection saves your tabs. I love that! :D

I agree. You are always going to miss something but when it pops up automatically telling you your spelling is off then you don't have much of any excuse. :p

Hey, I didnt know that...that's good. If it corrects typos in urls we type in (maybe in future), like say we type in Goole and it tells us we should be typing Google...than all those typo domainers will have to start ditching their domains..LOL :p

If you are impressed with the default in-built spell checker you should take a look at the huge variety of add-ons that are available.
