Is Google Voice Phone Actually Free?

I downloaded GV app on my phone supposing it to be free. After about a week it doesn't let me use it becuase it says I have insufficient Mo+ credits. I looked online and I can't find anywhere that it says it's a paid service. Does anybody know the fineprint in GV Phone "FREE" service? And I am in the US calling US numbers.

 

Hangouts calls are free when you call to the US or Canada.

I prefer Skype. Totally free if you have an email address.

 

Skype texting and calling phones aren't free. Only Skype to Skype.

 

Just uninstall it and re-install again. Have you tried this ?

Yea, its definitely true that Hangouts calls are fully free when you call to USA or Canada.

 

I try to place a call and it's not free on my phone but it is on my laptop. GV Phone isn't free on my phone as it advertises.

 

Google Voice is free only for USA and Canada. If you want to get Google Voice number again then read it.

 

I don't think so that they will provide for free... they will eventually bill you at home or among the phone as they take your phone number when you make your google account..

 

No charges is needed for US and Canada.

 

I'm in the US. GV works for free from my laptop but not from my phone. It's crazy I know. They advertise free from your phone but not so for me so I'm just wondering what going on here.

 

If you don't choose Google# you don't have one.
Gmail chats Call phone is not GVoice. Don't worry.

1. You have to download and install a plugin for it to work. If you want to make US and Canadian calls. (no receiving calls)
2. It is prepaid. No credit, no int'l calls. if you will never use it.
3. Go to Gmail==>Chat to stop it from showing in GMail.
