Hi everyone, I may be asking for the impossible, but if I don't ask I surely won't get anything that's for sure. I have a website for musical independent artists/bands and I need visitors who will actually download their music (mp3s); I need as many real visitors/day as possible, hundreds if possible, but my budget is limited right now, I could give ~$50/month. I tried a few things such as interstitial advertising from Adf.ly, also Adwords, StumbleUpon, I also tried expired domains traffic in the past, eBay "hits" sales and what not, but no good results so far, and Adwords + StumbleUpon are way too expensive for the low quality results I got, no offense to them necessarily, it might work for some people, though maybe my site would need tweaking also, still I'd like to try out other avenues that I might've not thought about before, that's why I'm here; I wouldn't mind advertising on Russian mp3 sites as long as they're legal, or any other legal site that receives a big amount of daily visits that could get me visitors that actually convert into signups to download the artists' music. No bots, they wouldn't work anyways since a registration is needed to download music on the site, and I don't mind Asian traffic, but I'd like a mixture of anywhere in the world. If you have ideas I can try out please let me know here or in PM, it will be much appreciated. Some of you might be more experienced than I am on this. TIA.
Why not use the bands themselves to help promote the site? Many probably already have fan bases online, Facebook pages, etc.
Hi, yes I'm already doing that but it's slow so I wanted to accelerate things up with real web traffic even though I don't have a big budget. Thanks.
You could try a PR campaign. Perhaps you could write up a press release a couple times per week announcing the "signing up" of yet another of your indie artists. If you build up a good list of music media reporters, bloggers, etc., and send them good "news" for their readers, you should get a fair amount of exposure driving traffic to your site. Of course, you need to know how to write up the press release and, most important, it needs to be "news" that would not be easily found elsewhere, but this is something that you can do that will not cost any money, just your time.
Are the bands willing to do live Hangouts on YouTube during jam sessions or practices? If you could get them to stream some of their live activities through channels that mention "Brought to you by....", "Download the MP3 at....", etc... Just a thought...plus its free...
There is no such thing as fast results it will always take time to see the effect because the most important here is to build your reputation first before expecting conversions on the site. Using different platforms to reach your targeted audience will be a good start up.
You can not get any fast result. you have to try hard. I think you may try. You can promote your site yourself. Post various articles about music into music forums, yahoo answer etc etc. By this way you can get a lots of visitor.
Well, if you need help . I can drive high quality niche and country targeted traffic to your site for a cheap price. Please hit me up if you're interested.
Thanks all for your ideas; ArticleSpecialists, that's a very good idea, I actually thought of something similar before and forgot about it, I will now probably try it. Thanks.
I would try to find influencers and make deals with them to pay from your sales. That will be very time consuming but will not be upfront. Most of my first big sales/traffic where all from deals like that, it can be done but it's very very very time consuming and tons of work and negotiating.
