LOL...other than spending your days in a Faraday cage, any thoughts as to what you might do to replace the Internet in your business or personal life? I break into a sweat thinking about no email for weeks, months, or even years...
That would be really bad for me if it happened. I make most of my income in the web. But I really don't think the internet can be taken down just by a solar flare. It could destroy the satellites and short out the national grid, but not the internet.
Well, if it destroys communications satellites and destroys the electric power grid for years, it is hard to see how people will use the Internet. But that was really not the point of this thread. The question is, what would you do if the Internet went away. For those of us whose primary income relies on the Internet, what fallback plans do we have?
It's actually a pretty possible scenario being that our atmosphere is not even that powerful. It's enough to block average flares, but not the big ones. When we have large flares that hit the earth you can see them via a wonderful spectacle known as the 'Aurora Borealis' (a sight we luckily see pretty often in Canada--especially Northern Canada).
The big question as I see it, What would happen to the keyboard warriors?! Would they switch from keyboards to sticks or what?
