-$1200 Scammed, Help me Please!

    Hi,

    Few days before a guy paid me $1200 money from my website PayPal merchant button. [June 27, 2014] [Buyer use Credit Card for payment.]

    But due to some reasons he want to cancel this Order and we both party settlement on $945 payment.

    I (Seller) return $945 payment to Buyer thru Bank Account [July 09, 2014]. I have bank receipt of payment made and mobile SMS alert for debited $945 money with me.

    NOW, after few days Buyer made full $1200 payment dispute on [July 12, 2014]. I am so depressed here. As I already paid from my own pocket $945 and again got dispute from him. Seems it’s a part of planning to scam me.

    I already submitted to all the documents to PayPal:
    - Email conversation between us.
    - Bank Account Statement details.
    - Mobile SMS alert message $945 debit from my account.
    - Photocopy of ID card of Buyer.

    BUT MY PROBLEMS NOW:
    - PayPal said we can’t do anything as the Buyer made the payment thru Credit Card and only Credit Card Company will take decision and PayPal forward all the proof documents to Credit Card Company which was submitted by me before.

    - Now recently I received the email from PayPal check here:

    Query1: What does above screenshot meanings? Is the case comes in buyer’s favor or it is still in progressing? because when I check the status in my PayPal account case is CLOSED!

    Query2: On 11July2014 I got $100 payment but I never received it in my Bank account yet. Where it goes? Where negative balance is correct even they not deduct $100 there. Any suggestion please?

    NOTE: What is the toll free number of PayPal from Skype? Please let me know.
    1-800-212-3852 is not working.....

    Bank wire is not an original refund payment source?

    BTW any body knows PayPal toll free number call from Skype for INDIAN users..

    You should have issued a refund through PayPal by clicking the 'Issue Refund' option this would prevent the buyer from being able to create a dispute on top of a refund. It does not matter the funding source be it PayPal balance or card, if it went through PayPal it needs to be refunded through PayPal using the proper refund options to prevent such scams.

    What you've done is accepted a PayPal payment and then refunded through bank wire. These would become 2 separate transactions and not a single transaction that has been refunded.

    Edit: From the screenshot it sounds like the case is still pending just, it is out of PayPal's control (it is down to the card issuer). If they decide in your favor they will tell you and return the money but if not, you will lose the money.

    What you can do? If you don't win the PayPal dispute go to your bank and dispute the $945 you sent him. It is possible you will win that and get your 'refund' back.

    Alex- Arvixe Is it possible that I can ask to my Indian Bank to dispute $945?

    But let me talk to Bank frist, if so all my tension will gone!. Thanks for alternate solution.

    In india, bank wire can b disputed within 24 hours, subject to error during payment. after that u cant dispute bank wire at all

    Always use the ''issue refund'' option if there are some confusion occurs about the payment. Hope you get it resolved.

    @OP What type of card do you have? You can dispute it with your bank to try get the $945 back, yes.

    I wonder if you can appeal directly to your customer for help based on your willingness to look after him in the first place. He/she may feel obligated to be honorable.

    Well again I written to Chargeback team and here is the reply comes from charge-back team today:

    So let me wait for 80 calendar days as per mentioned by chargeback team, but I can't use this account as it is negative balance. And I don't know the final result.

    BTW any body have any best solution that how can I win this case?

    Well I already paid to buyer from my INDIAN Bank account and Bank said this payment sent as a GIFT so Bank can't do anything. :( :(

    Where PayPal is fighting on behalf of me but lets see what decision SELLERS credit card company will take. BTW SELLER Credit Card company is "HSBC".

    Why not dispute $945 you paid him from your paypal account? It's entirely possible.

    I think it will be wise to wait rather than trying because paypal will handle it and it seems the verification and whatever necessary is the task of the credit card issuer so i'm sure as paypal submitted a dispute to the card company regarding the issue with proofs that you have provided, you will get a result, maybe early than the deadline.

    It appears he sent it via bank transfer, not through PayPal.

    Were you aware that you can make a partial refund through Paypal? You should have refunded DIRECTLY from the money that was sent through paypal...not any other form. This is a bad one indeed and you could have very well screwed yourself by doing that. I'd contact your bank ASAP and get a hold put on those funds you sent!
