Hi fellow DP members, In a couple of days I will be leaving to Paris for a business trip with my business partner. As this is the first time I am going to Paris and I have only a week to spend there I want people to suggest me where to go and what to do at free time Waiting for your resonses Thanks in advance
I've been there on a long weekend, and these things I found very nice: *Eiffel Tower *Notre Dame *Pont Neuf *Louvre *Montmartre *Arc de Triomphe Enjoy your stay!
Don't forget to visit "Le Palais de Versailles" (the Versailles castle) in Paris where the Kings and Queens of France used to live. It's very nice.
Paris is a city that you can wander around soaking up the atmosphere. Of course, you'll want to see all the icons, but before I would make suggestions for places to visit, I'd need to know where your interests lie.
Besides the above mentioned places I would go for Eurodisney, but since it's a business trip i would recommend a visit to the "Moulin Rouge" or "Crazy Horse" authentic Cabarets. Despite Versailles being a bit far from downtown Paris it's indeed a great place and worth to be visited including the gardens.
Thanks guys I surely will go to: *Eiffel Tower *Notre Dame *Pont Neuf *Louvre *Montmartre *Arc de Triomphe *Moulin Rouge *Red light street and will do my best to be at *Le Palais de Versailles I am from Armenian and we have here many ancient buildings that have a history of centuries. That's why I like my country and will try to see the Versailles Also I should be around Elysees, I did a long research in the past couple of days Thanks everyone for your suggestions
I used to live there. It's hard to say where you should go, because there are just so many choices. Sometimes I used to just wander around the banks of the Seine, soaking up the atmosphere and going where the mood took me. Paris is full of beautiful sights and interesting places, there's no way you can fit it all in in a week. Queues for the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower can be enormous, especially during a peak holiday season. If all you've got is a week, you don't want to waste any of it stuck in a queue. I'm not sure what it will be like in December, but Paris is pretty much a tourist trap any time of the year. There are some gorgeous places to go just a few miles outside of Paris. Monet's Garden, or the Chateau de la Roche Guyon, are within 50 miles of the capital, if that's the sort of thing you like. Going just a little way off the beaten track is usually a good plan if you want to see the real France and avoid all the crowds and tacky souvenir sellers.
Eh.. forget all that. Yes, of course, you need to do all the "You been to Paris and didn't see [appropriate historical/artistic location]?!?"... But - for breakfast get crepe with nutella, banana and whipped cream. Next day, make it with some jelly. Experiment - if nothing this you will remember. Get a sandwich (in a baguette of course) with ham, cheese, and butter and sit on the side of the Saine and watch people. Or better yet, go to Centre George Pompidou (@ Rambuteau) with the sandwich and watch college kids trying to make money by setting themselves on fire, drawing, acting, and other silly things. (there is WiFi hotspot there, so you can tell us what you see ) In essence, if you plan to go back to Paris anyway, do not go through it like a racehorse. Pick one or two "must see" things, and relax the rest of the time.
Well as Libertate and Obelia said - Paris is one big attraction. I spend there 4 weeks vacation and i have no time for a lot of things. Since you are at busines trip - you wont have a lot of time. Better skip Louvre - you will need a mont to see it good. Never have more than 2 hours - that's the maximum amount of time a guy can spend at a museum, and if it's possible - visit Fontainebleau (it's 70 KM from paris - but it's great place. Also Le Palais de Versailles and Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Pont Neuf, Arc de Triomphe. For the palaces you will need one day for each (but it's worted), for Eiffel tower - 2 hours with queue, Notre Dame and Pont Neuf - 1 - 1.30 hours, Arc de Triomphe - 1 hour, and 1 hout walt trough Champs Elysees to the obelsik (that make three evenings. There are also a lot of places you may consider visiting depending by your interests. Happy stay in Paris.
Go to the louvre early to avoid the queues -- make sure you find the mona lisa and see what you think of it.
Good one. If you're only spending a couple of hours in the Louvre, make sure you check out their site to see what you really want to see (I'd definately go to the Mona Lisa). Then you can plan your route through the Louvre, which will definately be neccesary.
I was in Paris as well... however I saw nothing but the international airport. International Flights within the European union seem to be in terminal E, where as ones going to and from the united states seem to be in Terminal F. There is a set of glass windows with those movie theater ropes relatively near the departure area, that's where you go to get your passport stamped. Then you take a left, and follow a corridor until the first right that says baggage on it (the French for it is of course at the top, but they have an English translation below). I'm afraid that's all the help I can give, aside from the fact that I have heard that there is a castle overlooking the sea that the french see far more as a symbol of France than the Eiffel tower, and I've seen some pictures of it. Personally, I'd rate that above the Eiffel tower.
Hello, I am not from Paris but from Lyon; meanwhile as a tourist, I suggest you to have a stroll in Montmartre, go to Trocadero, in front of the Tour Eiffel, visit le Louvre, and so on ... Having a small cruise using the bateaux mouche is a nice way to discover one of the most beautiful city in the world. Bon voyage ! Cheers !
