How these sites make money ?

There are some websites like lifehacker that doesn't have any ads.
So, how they make so much money ( as they say ) ?

Just saw now the website. Probably they develop some apps, softs. I guess it's something local!

 

I see nothing ( apps, softs, ecc ). Only some rare sposored posts.

 

That's why I said they might be a local company doing something privately. There are many sponsored firms who don't come online to share all the projects they do.

 

Not sure what you're seeing and I can't send you a screen cap, but when I shut down my browser firewall, they are using a ton of Google adsense or some other banner ads on there. Maybe you're blocking them and not seeing it? or perhaps you're using mobile and not a laptop or something and they are not using mobile ads?? . We're talking about lifehacker dot com, correct? The front page is awash with adverts. Google adsense unless I miss the guess. Top header has a banner, left sidebar has another. Both showing IBM for me at the moment. I use bluhell firewall and shut it down and they showed instantly. Not sure if you can see this or not.

wow, I don't see anything. I tryed it on different browsers without ads banner. But ok, maybe it's a problem of mine.

I know about CafePress. I have read many ebook about making money with them. But there are some things I did not know so I never try it out.
Maybe you could advice me.

To sell on CafePress. We need to provide our own design. I know we can buy the design on fiverr or other freelance site.
But the problem is how to make sure the image is not copyright?

I got a pop up smacking me in the face when I visited it. Those are media group companies. They have more than one site and they sell advertising spots. Some of those articles that come across as theirs are probably posted there via paid advertising.

Yep, I see a couple ads as well. There is a banner across the top, a square ad on the left side. The first post is from their "commerce team" which is a bunch of different products all pointing to Amazon links, so I'm sure they are getting revenue there as well.

 

They clearly have adsense on top and bottom. Didn't digged deep though but I am sure they will have ads in posts as well
