links in forums signitures

excuse me for the dumb question, but:
does putting links in signatures of forums I participate in helps promoting my websites?
or does google looks at it like "mmm.... that's a forum and I know people use it a lot just that a link to the website will appear a lot, so we're not gonna count it...." or something like that?

 

link is link . it does not change anythink a forum or a dating site (but if your link is a link farm , it changes some bad think )

Links in forums are only good for any direct traffic they send. If you are hoping for them to have any influence on your google rankings think again. They have been discredited so much they are near valueless in that aspect.

Well, certainly they are important in numbers. If you participate in a forum and have 100s of post. Just a couple of links from a site with probably 100s K outbound links aren't very strong, right?

 

They are good for generating targetted traffic if the forum is busy and related to your site.

In terms of affecting SERPs, google knows they are easy links to get so will devalue them accordingly. Maybe even ignore them completely, who knows.

These links are good source of traffic and some times in backlink.

 

It helps in SERP Rankings IMO..and also direct traffic from forums if you place related site in signature

Depends on the quality of the forum, a highly spidered one like this works wonders.

 

link in this DP, at least, is shown as a backlink to my flirting sites. On top of that I get a direct link to my site. Pretty good deal.

I think they help to a small degree.....Some of the older posts on this forum from about 2004 have Pagerank......I have seen some with Pagerank 4...I also get traffic from them...

 

I have gotten traffic and some new business because I carefully selected and designed the links that work best for me. Plus, you can get a nice backlink count if that matters much to you.

 

It helps promote your website, because PEOPLE see the link. That's what promotion is all about - whether the value of the link as a backlink amounts to anything depends on the forum: some will have a rel no follow attribute on every link (not DP though).

 

Typically they're good and can't really hurt much. I mean, even if they don't count it, nothing lost - and you can still get some click-through traffic.
