How readily/easily do people subscribe to blogs/websites

How easy is it to get subscribers to your website or blog? I know this obviously depends on how awesome your content is and if you are giving away something for free. Do people really want to subscribe to email lists for the fantastic content or is it just for the freebie? How readily do they give their information out?

I am just trying to get an idea because I have just created my email list form and am going to start adding information to my site. The reason I ask is because I have NEVER signed up to a subscriber list for anything EVER. I have never came across a website that I found so interesting that I felt I had to subscribe to. I have however seen good posts and bookmarked a few pages but I rarely come back to them.

I find this a little bit sad and believe this is because I only use the internet for sometimes buying things, mainly my internet marketing adventures and a lot of researching. I rarely use it for enjoyment i.e. having a favourite website is like having a favourite TV channel and checking it out every time a new episode is out. But I am assuming this is why people subscribe? They use the internet for more enjoyment purposes and find a website and get lost for hours in its fascinating content and subscribe to never miss a post/episode? Sometimes I could do this if I am ever on Youtube.

I have never subscribed to a blog/website as there is no need to, I can just bookmark and come back whenever I want. Signing up for a email list is a bit different. usually you will want to offer information that will not be available on the blog but only to subscribers to your email list.

FYI, it is a pretty common practice for people to create a 2nd email to subscriber and get the freebies. They usually don't check their mails in that account.

Good point. It is what it is online when trying to get someone to subscribe to your blog or website. Just roll with the punches and continue to get lots of targeted traffic to your website. Also, make it easy for people to subscribe. Have your subscribe form on every page of your website, and put it in a place that is obvious for people to see.

i have an email list into my website and people always subscribe on my email list without any free gift offer or something like that just my content is helpful and hen someone read one or two articles then they give me a comment and then i notice that the same person who commment on my article has entered his email, so people are not same there is who will put his email to stay updated even you don't give them free gift and there is some people will never subscribe even you give him $100 or anything else, so keep in mind that the more your content is communication content (if i gave correct word) The more subscriber you'll get
