Hello to all, I just want to know how many of you are Christian. If so, how many of you are going to church every Sunday? ...and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near. Matthew 3:2
I am a staunch Hindu but I don't need to go to temples to prove it. For me, a Hindu, the belief is that god is everywhere (omnipresent). For me, a Hindu, everyone is equal and everyone is a member of this family called world (vasudaivam kutumbakam) (I could go on, but not because it deviates a lot out of the scope of your original question)
Helps what? (I'm not kidding - i'm from a Christian family and don't go to church and i've always wonder what people feel there)
It helps to know more teachings and how to be good for others etc. I'm a member of a church that focuses on "grace", Christianity is now not much of a struggle and teaches me to focus on love instead of avoiding hate, to focus on being good insteading of avoiding evil. In other words, focus on the positive more, and less on the negative. A far cry from what a number of Christian churches, particularly Catholic and Baptists churches which are dogmatic.
Being dogmatic is good -- there's less chance to lose the correct understanding of Tradition. Interpreting Bible in any way you like can easily lead to heresy. Or am I wrong?
Don“t waste your time. Everything he posts is about his version of the BS (religion) is better than other people BS.
It's good to have a little of dogmatic teaching, but too much of it will draw people away in my experience. I left the Catholic church because of too much dogma, became atheist/agnostic for a short time.
I believe in God and have been brought up Christian, however I am not dogmatic about it and have read the texts of and have a basic understanding of many other religions.
I'm a Christian and very serious about it. Nevertheless, my churchgoing is somewhat infrequent. To some extent it has to do with the fact that I'm quite introverted by personality and going to places where there are large groups of people isn't very natural for me.
Putting the name "I am Christian" does not make you one. Bush said he was Christian, Barak Husain Obama too.... do you really believe they are? (There are a lot of priest who also claim their are Christians, but are making a nice living by preaching the world of God. Did Jesus preach for money? Was he going around with donation offering plate? And actually what do the priest preach today? How many times they talk about the commandment "Love one another".) What makes one Christian is whether he follows the Christ's teachings.
"I'm a Christian and very serious about it.", I thought it was clear. In this age, being religious, surely must be classified as a form of mental defect.
Jesus did not preach for money. However, he preached about money management, and he needed money to run his ministry.
