We are writing some fresh new and unique content (articles), for exposure only in our site. I know there are many content stealers out there.. But at the same time, we need people to link to our articles, and sometimes that's only possible if they replicate the article in their sites.. What would you suggest me, not to be ripped off ? I currently disabled copy and paste for the content pages (firefox and IE), and also put a big message telling that content is copyrighted.. I also put a message telling people they CAN link to this article if they mention it in their sites..
If people want to copy it they'll do it, there's not too much you can do to stop someone determined enough. Place the appropriate copyright notice like you did and wait. Once in awhile check copyscape to see if your article pops up somewhere that doesn't properly give you credit, if you find someone like that you could try to contact them and tell them to give you the credit...or else! Copyscape: http://www.copyscape.com/
And when you're at copyscape, you may want to grab a "this page is protected by copyscape" banner and post that on your site. It looks official and may deter some people. I never disable any right click functions because I get annoyed anytime I run into them. P.S. NOFX rules!
Yeah I wouldn't worry to much about it. If they want to copy it they will. As stated above, just use copyscape to check and if they then just ask them to link to your site for credit. If they do great, if they don't...then you can worry about reporting them to google, their webhost, that kind of stuff if you feel its necessary. Just my thought on the matter.
Content stealers will copy it no matter what. So putting a CopyScape link below will be better option then encrypting it.
Embed the full URL of your website within the article text (preferably on primary keyphrase). Then, if someone does steal [the raw HTML of] your content, then you will at least get a relevant backlink to your website. Cryo.
There isn't actually much you can do. Like many people here already said using copyscape is the best option.... Either than that if people want to copy your content they will....
Backlinks are ok.. If somente steals and link back to me, no problem.. I just don't want 100's of people doing this ;-)
There is no way your content cannot be stolen. One thing you can do is to file a complain to the web hosting of the website. Some web hosting don't tolerate this action.
Someone steals one of my site's content constantly and he ranks better than my site for my keywords with my content! LOL he performs better link building than me with the content that he stole from me!!!
Optimizing for original content should deter the copiers (their pages will be ignored on search results if they are duplicates) should do it. It's not enough to have original content and place some deterrents like Copyscape.
