I am just reading up on various reasons for darker complexions and this article points out that its not just your body, but also your state of mind. My question is - do you think complexion has a relation with your mind as well as your body itself, like nutrition and stuff? I personally agree with this idea, and also how relaxed you are and not always stressed out etc. Would be good to hear what others have to say...
It's probably a combination of things: the food you eat, the personality you have (positive, negative), the environment you live in. People living in the countries with a higher level of pollution tend to have a darker complexion, for instance. Of course, it's not always true. I live near one of the beaches, here in FL. Just by living here I feel better, healthier compared to how I overall felt living in another state for 11 years. That is not to say that I always enjoy a 95F weather with 90% of humidity. Which brings me to another point. Your complexion is not influenced by just one or two events or temporary stressors. The serious, permanent changes can occur only if they happen over an extended period of time. We are talking 5+ years.
Emotions affect skin coloring/complexion all of the time. Turning red in anger or embarrassment is an example. Turning white as a ghost when afraid is another. So, it makes some sense to me that longterm input from your mind (whether positive, negative, or a mix) could certainly affect your coloration/complexion. However, I think that environment (what you eat, how much you go in the sun, etc.) probably plays a much bigger role.
I agree. Nutrition plays a big part, but so does your daily routine in the morning/evening.. Ie, cleansing, protecting from the sun (that is a huge one) to prevent fine lines and premature aging.

This post is spot to on to the last couple years of my life. Basically I've had shitty skin troubles which have been reluctant to resolve themselves. These are my biggest observations: Your mood/mindset plays the biggest role. Digestion is key. If you go on a multi day fast you will see your complexion clear right up. Moderation in any skin care regimen is key. Truly less is more when it comes to externally messing with your skin. High fat, high carb meals don't mix. Omega 3 fats from fish are amazing, but should never be consumed in combination with other vegetable oils. Point number 1 is the most crucial. If your system is relaxed then you typically eat well and in moderation. Plus your inflammatory agents are at rest.
