So we have seen youtube, whatsup, facebook, skype, 3d printing etc.. What would revolutionize in couple of years? What do you think?
I have been having some success with online magazine marketing. It is a great way to get the message out to your niche and is better than newsletters, at least in my experience.
Totally personalised content on the web. It's starting right now as for example Google gathers tons of info about each user and provide targeted ads, search results etc. In the future it will be very hard to discover anything new in the web, because you will see only things that are selected for you, using your past tastes.
People in general do not like having content selected for them. Facebook tries this over and over (as if they want to force it on you), and each time people complain and manually change the settings.
Businesses, in general, have flourished when they have provided customers what they wanted and adapted as users desired. Very few business start off with the optimal model, but if it provides even some value at first and listens carefully to the market, their customers will let them know how to optimize their offerings. Trying to guide your customers into what you think is best for or of most interest to them usually results in failure.
I see the future with cards used like smartphones and the ability to interact with different objects just anywhere (shops, museums, events) using such cards. A kind of evolution of the actual smartphones technology where physical and digital features are all together.
You know, a friend of mine had an idea about four years ago for a website to connect travelers with local doctors. Having caught the flu on the other side of the U.S. this year (and on my back in a hotel for a couple of days), I might have used such a service.
I was in the embedded software space a while ago and the Internet of Things was the hottest topic and what all of the companies were designing into their electronic products. This is one reason why there continues to be pressure to go to IPv6 across the Internet because when each person owns 8-10 other devices that need an IP address (refrigerator, thermostat, car, stove, microwave, washing machine, video surveillance, etc.) you begin to quickly hit the address limit of IPv4. Eventually, we will be able to communicate, as appropriate, with just about all electronic equipment. This was a good point by JakeTCM as this one will definitely happen (and is in process already.)
Wow! I can't believe I didn't see that sooner. Mind = blown. What a creepy thought. Even worse; what a sad world this will be without tools that allows us to educate ourselves or explore curiousities of our own free will. How would anything ever be new or improved? Then again, if a society was only subjected to the things they're "told" they would like or have use for, it would simply be a world living at an unevolved level. And they would never knowing the difference. *shiver*
Ahhh...yet another valid point. We are rather obsessed with sharing knowledge and opinions whether people like it or not, aren't we?
I am waiting for the ability to de-materialize at point A and re-materialize at point B....you remember...beam me down Scotty!
