I am working with a non-profit organization from a foreign country. Any suggestions on the best way to market in a different country? Anybody have any experience in this department and are willing to share their tips? Thank you!

It is an Entrepreneurship Conference to help the people in Congo learn necessary skills to help them create and run successful businesses. We would like to get the word out to the people in Congo but also get the word out to potential sponsors.

I feel that the best way to market in a place like Congo is to take fliers to people and make posters. I don't imagine that the internet is readily accessible in Congo, like in the U.S. and as a result, door-to-door marketing will be the most successful.

very right, John! it should be a good idea to find all the marketing books of the 70s and 80s and study those methods since with no internet it's like a jump into the past!

You could hire someone local to do that for you, it should be a resonable price, even for handing out fliers, also you could try different ad agencies that can target geo-locations.

Try using the Google Keyword tool and figuring out what the majority of Congo people are searching for - You can use Facebook also, set up a campaign to see how many people in Congo like a famous person or movie.. that will give you a demographic - you will get a total number, then you can fine tune the campaign to see 19-35 year old males, interests.. etc. To set one up is free - just use the tool.

the problem is if the internet is not accessible there. Stats I found: in 2011 there were 915,400 internet users on population: 73,599,190.

Hey Chaye, I would first find other organizations perhaps in Congo or nearby countries that offer similar or peripherally similar services (business, entrepreneurship, skills building etc.) and develop a cross-promotional relationship. It's likely they already have an engaged market that might be worth promoting too : ) Best of luck.

I feel your question and your replied answer are confusing.

Your question is "Any suggestions on the best way to market in a different country?"
and you replied that "It is an Entrepreneurship Conference to help the people in Congo learn necessary skills to help them create and run successful businesses"

What is the connection between best way to market in a different country and learn necessary skills to help them create and run successful businesses.

To teach necessary skills in creating and running successful business organisation, you can read books related to SUCCESSFUL Business Leaders, and train them accordingly.
Or you an call some of the well known business leaders to your organisation and ask them to share his/her experiences to your people.

I imagine that you're doing offline marketing here? If so, you can easily do simple techniques like direct mail, newspaper advertising, classified advertising, magazine advertising in your niche, or even postcard marketing. It's not hard ..... just a little more expensive than online marketing.

First what kind of business are you working on. Before you start
you need to consider where most of their clients/customers hang
out without this you will be missing the target and complete waste
    of time and resource.
