I was able to restore much of my site. It works fine, except no images on pages, for visitors. It does not work fine from my dashboard. It keeps telling me to update the database. Last time I updated the database it locked me out and I had to re-install my home directory and my sql database. How do I get my Wordpress dashboard back without updating the database? Sorry to bring this question to the board. My host has not been helpful with any of this so I appreciate your help.
What has happened when you updated database before? Do you remember the error? It will be keep asking you about updating database, so it's better to solve this problem than avoid it.
LMAO I had this exact same problem earlier today. I had a plugin that "needed to be updated", but after I updated it, all I got was a 500 Internal Server Error. I knew which update I had installed, so I opened up my ftp and located the plugin folder and deleted the whole thing. That fixed my problem, but I had to find a different plugin to do what I needed.
I don't remember it exactly but it was only about half a line long (maybe 10 words) and it talked about revoked permissions. Revoked is what I think I remember, Permission I recall for sure. and it was on a white screen. Once you get that you have to restore through cPanel in order to get some control of your blog back And thanks, thanks for weighing in on this so quickly
I work the 12 twelve hour shift over the weekend. So it will be hard to get to you until Monday. What is generally a good time to try and reach you. Then I'll PM and get a skype account from you. I use my Skype so infrequently I don't even remember my number. But I will include that in the PM. Right now I have to run but thank you so much for helping with this. this is my site: http://ragingalcoholic.com It is an addiction type site.
