That is all mans deeds. Not God's. Not disregarding it at all. Not just faith either. Faith is nothing without works (an old but true saying). That last point says it all. God will not allow it according to his word. yes, mankind has raped the earth and will pay dearly for it. Col
Are you serious, you accpet that you are made from dirt ? We are certainly not made of dirt, I dunno what you think humans are comprised of, but dirt isn't in the list, it's not even anywhere near the list, The average adult (specifically a 70 kilogram adult) is composed of: FYI : THE LIST : Element Percentage Oxygen 65 Carbon 18 Hydrogen 10 Nitrogen 3 Calcium 1.5 Phosphorus 1 Sulfur 0.25 Potassium .2 Chlorine 0.15 Sodium 0.15 Magnesium 0.05 Iron 0.006 Fluorine 0.0037 Zinc 0.0032 Silicon 0.002 Zirconium 0.0006 Rubidium 0.00046 Strontium 0.00046 Bromine 0.00029 Lead 0.00017 Niobium 0.00016 Copper 0.0001 Aluminum 0.000087 Cadmium 0.000072 Boron 0.000069 Barium 0.000031 Arsenic 0.000026 Vanadium 0.000026 Tin 0.000024 Mercury 0.000019 Selenium 0.000019 Manganese 0.000017 Iodine 0.000016 Gold 0.000014 Nickel 0.000014 Molybdenum 0.000013 Titanium 0.000013 Tellurium 0.000012 Antimony 0.000011 Lithium 0.0000031 Chromium 0.0000024 Cesium 0.0000021 Cobalt 0.0000021 Silver 0.000001 Uranium 0.00000013 Beryllium 0.000000005 Radium 0.00000000000000001 Do you see dirt in that list ? nope, nada nothin, zilch, it's not there, and you know why, it's because we're not made of dirt.....
this is going to keep going around in cirlces. Krakjoe, thinks religion is bull. Colin, lives by it.. interesting...
A minute ago, god had power over everything on this earth. It's one or the other, you can't do both. As for your comment about god allowing it, I was definately being sarchastic there is infact NOTHIN "God" can do about anything that happens here, and you know why, because he doesn't exist, he's not here to do anything, that's the reason man has raped the earth, because we can, and there's nothin stoppin us.
Yes. I live by it thoroughly. krakjoe has done some research and I commend him for that. However, in too have done research. Hence, the interesting discussion.
Ima just leave it at that, I respect your opinion, I really can't go much further without this turning into a bitch-fest, and I totally understand it, there's clearly no point in either of us trying to influence another, so I'll just leave it.....
God has the power but he is not ruling the earth right now. he has given rulership to another until he steps in.
The idea that life on planet earth began within the last 10,000 years has already been proven as wrong. There are thousands of items that have been found and accuratly aged using techniques that are accurate beyond any reasonable persons doubt. Life on earth has existed for many millions of years, the bible is wrong. How do you manage to evade this fact?
I have yet to have any Christian show me where the Bible disallows some kind of evolution as God's method, and some evolutionist to show me where evolution denies the hand of God. The Bible says that with God one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years a day. The days of the Bible in the Book of Genesis cannot be measured. The Bible shows that man and woman was here on earth before God created Adam. How does evolution or any theory, (let alone any proven science), deny the existence of God? To me knowing how blood courses through the veins, or knowing how to fly to the moon, or knowing how He chose to allow animals to evolve, only brings us closer to His greatness.
Thats your faith talking. I'm not going to object to your faith. People will make whatever they want of their chosen holybook.
Three things regarding your comment. First, thank you for recognizing my faith. Second you did not answer the question. Third, when you write: That goes for science as "holy book" as well.
Nothing directly denies the existence of god, and nothing directly comes close to even hinting there is a god. The same applies to flying pigs etc. Utter nonsense. The two are not comparable in any way at all. Fisrt of all, the holy books are fixed texts of dubious origins. The word science is applicable to millions of dynamic ideas.
You have a point - all I meant to say was that with no concrete proof that can back up either point of view we will never know for sure how exactly it all began, will we? As regards the time factor, most religions seem to have it wrong - recorded it wrong perhaps? So what is left is for each of us to have our own 'take' on reality - right or wrong, who can really tell?
Are just that. Ideas. Science by it's very nature is always changing. Many of it's heralded ideas have just fallen flat on their face. The others that have not. The ones, like simple numbers, that are true now and forever... are simply attestastions of a divine will and a growing closer to Him. Also, there is not one element in your list of the components of man that did not come from this earth... the dirt, as it were.
I just checked a copy of the bible online ... It doesn't give a date for creation. The bible never explicitly says how old the earth is. People have interpreted lists of geneologies (which often skip several generations in their recital) as a literal timeline. That, in conjunction with a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation account have lead to the "Young Earth" view of creation. Geneological lists were not meant to be literal and exhaustive timelines. The view that the earth was created 6,000-10,000 years ago is a view of a portion of Christians and does not reflect the view of all Christians, much less followers of all religions. To insist that all religion is false based on an interpretation of one segment of one religion is a straw man argument.
"To insist that all religion is false based on an interpretation of one segment of one religion is a straw man argument." - i have not done this. Earth = Billions of years old Humans = ~60, 000 years old Life on earth = upto billions of years old The universe = uncomprehensible age Life elsewhere in the universe = very likely, law of probabilities.
Well, you said the bible is wrong and then cited a "Young Earth" doctrine as evidence for it. How can this interpretation of one portion of a religion be held as evidence of the falsity of religion in general or Christianity in particular? No problems there. I'm just not sure what you're getting at with the figures. Can you show me where these numbers contradict orthodox teaching of any religion? I'm not trying to be a smart***, I just don't see how the figures make themselves incompatible with religion.
