I just wondering If all backlinks of site have page rank 4 for examples had removed. The page rank of this site will remain or downgrade or ... be 0?

I believe that, backlinks just for improving the page rank(and keywords of course) and removal of it wouldn`t cause any effect, but I want to sure about this ...

your PR is judged on your backlinks. if everyone removed links to your site your PR would prolly roll back also.

Blackhat or whitehat, PR only happens from strictly backlinks. You can remove your links after an update but next update you might get pagerank decrease.

It will decrease, but it also depends of your site, if you has a good site, you'll not feel effect.

PR is based on incoming links...if you have no links then you can have no PR....if you remove all your backlinks your pr will drop to 0

Yes, all of the above comments are correct, PR is based on the quality of the backlinks. Do note that the Google toolbar will not immediately reflect the loss of PR because its only updated once every few months.

umm,I`m not sure, but I still thinking the page rank will still .It will improve If the backlinks still but won`t decrease If it removed:rolleyes:
Some comments here talking about backinks is all the provider of page rank ,I agree with that ,it gives you certin amount and increasing every day, when the backlink removed this amount are stopping but you still have what you got befor...

    Or
Why people sell sig. links for just 1 month? If they know they will lose what they get after this month.

Google PageRank is calculated soley on links...if you have no links then you can have no pagerank..

PageRank is not the only factor is ranking in the SERPS..

PR will not change until the next updation, but your rank in SERPs will be affected in a week. And definitely PR will decrease in next updation.

I don't think there is any doubt that pr is based on the amount of backlinks (and the quality of backlinks) and that it is updated continuously - less backlinks means less rankings. That simple. A quality site may build up natural links that don't disappear when the payed ones do - which may work as a buffer. Especially if google noticed the payed links as payed, and ignores them anyhow. but in principle: less backlinks from trusted sites means a lower ranking.

You believe that once a site is PR7 it will stay PR7 indefinitely? Good luck on testing that one out. I've seen pages on my site move into PR6, and out of that again, without me doing anything about extra backlinks.

Since PR is based on calculating backlinks, getting rid of the backlinks will decrease PR.

If all of your back links will be removed you may loose your PR upto some level and may also loose some of the rankings... so better never to decrease the backlinks just increase it everyday...

Obviously if you remove all backlinks you will have PR0. No matter how long you've had your site, no links=no pr. You can't fool Mr Google.

If you don't belive me, try it. It will take a week or two, but your traffic will drop, and a few months later your PR on the tool bar will drop.
