Craziest Google Conspiracy Theory

Discussion in 'Google' started by YJunK, Apr 30, 2014.

I've noticed that there's quite a few people on this website (and many others) that have crazy conspiracy theories about Google and what Google does.
Maybe some of you have them too, or maybe you have heard somebody's crazy theories.
Anyway, share them here, because I'm quite interested in just how crazy these theories get.

The craziest ones I know about a whole family who, for some reason, believe that Google is a xenophobic organisation. They still use the website and everything, but they have SUCH a complicated set up. They only use incognito browsers, they never use internet from their phones, and when they use the internet at all, they only use it through proxies and try to hide their activity as much as possible. The amount of trouble they go through just to find out where the closest Italian food restaurant is... crazy! :)

    What's your craziest story?

There were a lot of conspiracy theories going around about the Google barges.

Jon Stewart had a lot of fun about all of that in his Daily Show sometime back.

    I like this one:

All kinds of conspiracy theories which are valid for any massive megacorporation, are valid for google too. In the end, its a massive megacorp which is run by an executive board who seek to maximize the short term profits of themselves and their majority shareholders. Not to mention market control.

Because of that reason, its inevitable for google to also devolve into the same behavior like all the other, sociopath meagcorps ranging from exxon to haliburton, goldman sachs to microsoft.

Actually just looking at the trend of change starting with them hiring eric schmidt (ex oracle ceo) to the 'do no evil' philosophy going down the drain a few years later, and then their cooperation with nsa, government etc surfacing a few years later would just summarize the situation.

I personally thinks that in near future Google will be the omnipresent in almost any sector imaginable. I wish I am wrong.

Another thing I can assure you is Google accepting money from big co-operates to rank there websites higher than affiliate and sales website owned by other who only do SEO to rank high and more thoughts on this are required.

The ghost in the machine theory

The theory: Guided by programmers and self-teaching programs, the massive database of the Internet built by Google becomes self-aware. With all the knowledge of the Internet in the mind of one entity, Google's machine becomes the most powerful entity to ever exist.

Not sure about conspiracies, but I do know that Google has gotten way off track. Initially, Google's primary goal was to be the best and most relevant search engine and they were. A whole new expression ("google it") came out of Google's ability to serve up results quickly and relevantly. But with all the changes and updates Google has been making the past couple years to "improve" user experience, relevancy has gone out the window. The expression "if it's not broke don't fix it" is quite applicable here. The most common complaint I see these days about Google (aside from webmasters complaining about their rankings and penalties) is the lack of relevancy in the search results. Not sure if relevancy is still a concern for Google, but if it is, they're failing terribly.

My beliefs about Google are not conspiracy theory, they are conspiracy fact.

At the end of the day though, I have to ask myself, who really cares about Google. For one thing, Google only indexes the regular internet. Unless you live under a rock, you know that the regular internet is tiny. The dark web, hidden web, secret web, whatever you want to call it, is 5x the size of the regular interweb, and none of it is mapped by Google.

Worrying about Google is like looking at the crust on one slice of pie, while completely ignoring the whole pie.

Yes, there are so much news on the market about Google that people has started building their own conspiracies, I remembered I use to think the same way that Google is tracking my activities so I stared using VPN's and incognito mode in my browser. But after getting on the optimization thing I get to know that it just doesn't matters at all as our life is now revolving around the Google.

It is a fact that they are tracking your activities. They've admitted that the main function of plus is to track you and build a consumer profile that can be sold.

Conspiracy Fact - Google forces you to use Webmaster Tools or else they will overrun your server

If you have a large amount of content on your site (I have one site that adds about 150 new articles per day), then Googlebot will kill your server. The site I have that generates the most content is getting literally thousands of visits from Googlebot every hour, to the point of consuming all of my CPU for MySQL and causing my server to go down. This is just from Googlebot alone, not even going into Bing, which also forces you to sign up for WMT to stop their server abuse.

The only way to slow down the crawl rate is through webmaster tools. They could just crawl at a decent rate to begin with, but if they abuse your server and cause it to constantly run slow or shut down, then they can effectively extort you into using one of their other products. And once you do change the crawl rate in WMT, it is only good for 3 months before they start abusing your server again, meaning that you have to use their products again and again.

It's like a street gang fighting and picking on kids over and over until the kid has no choice but to join them as a means of stopping the abusive behavior.

Google bots constantly revisiting your site's pages throughout the day means your site is in high regard. its not something bad. google knows your site is updated frequently, and it visits and indexes your site even without you needing to supply a sitemap.

those bots could as well be visitors. there is no difference - in the end its a request from your server.

you should just change your server, upgrade to one which will handle the load. for if google bots are causing load, the users are also causing the same load. they may even be unable to use your site sometimes.

What many don't seem to understand is that it's basically enshrined in law that a corporation has to do everything it can to always increase profits. If profits slide for one quarter the corporation can be damaged, the entire system is built on unsustainable constant growth that simply cannot be matched in the real world. This inevitably leads to corporations doing some truly despicable things to cut costs and increase profits. This is the very nature of the business, and it is, frankly, why no corporation on the planet should ever be blindly trusted by the public.

Whether it's a certain corporate drinks brand leaking poisonous cleaning agents into the water supply of a third world village and then covering up the disaster, or a chemical corporation poisoning thousands of people in another country and abandoning the plant, never facing criminal prosecution for the many hundreds of thousands of innocent people still dealing with deaths, cancers, and birth defects, the corporation is inherently a dangerous construct.

indeed. not only that, but also maximizing SHORT term profits is the target always. it doesnt matter whether the corporation itself gets screwed up in the long run - as long as the ceo can supply record profits THIS quarter, all is ok. environment, society etc does not matter at all. just like how wall street banks did fractional reserve lending fraud and scammed entire world, despite they knew that it would eventually crash global economy.

    its total suicide economics.

not 'another country'. its wherever they can. mattel sold lead-painted toys to kids in usa for a decade. exxon, halliburton are fracking entire u.s. midwest and poisoning groundwater forever. glaxo smith klein turned out to have killed 100,000+ people in usa through heart attacks caused by their flagship drug, which was not even approved for the use they were selling it for. they paid $3 billion in reparations, after having made $14 bn~ by killing people. perfect business plan.

Visiting my site throughout the day is not an issue. Hammering my server with thousands of visits per hour, 24 hours per day, is a problem, especially when it gets to the point of throwing up 500 errors to real visitors because Googlebot is consuming 100% of the CPU by itself.

Uhh, yeah, whatever you say big guy! There's no way to pay to get better positions in organic search, and I assume why I don't have to tell you why large and known brand ranks better and faster than some half-assed Clickbank affiliate member?

Yeah, because we need that child porn and conspiracy lunatics even more that we have now! Really, the only reason for those networks to even exist in the beginning is to cater to all the weirdos - no loss there!
