Microsoft will provide an update to this problem on May 13. There is a tool kit available through Adobe that you can use in the meantime. But yes I do agree that one should change your browser (from IE) for now. Also you should be have adequate firewall protection and be using relevant software.
Anyone still using Internet Explorer deserves to be attacked...preferably with a blunt object around the head until they see sense.
You would require a rather large blunt object, as an estimated 55% of users around the globe do indeed still use Explorer. (Microsoft stats)

Microsoft is aware of the threat and working on the problem... fix is expected this month as stated in news.
From what I read it appears that you have to go to a website that has evil scripts. If you go to known and trusted sites you'll be fine.
