6 clicks in 1 hour from 1 IP ! possible ban?

After reading many threads of people losing Adsense accounts due to other people (competitors, ppl with grudge, etc) clicking repeatedly, I decided to get a script that would alert me if there many clicks from 1 IP within some time period.

I set the threshold to 4 clicks in 1 hour and today I got an alert:

    IP = 68.49.3.XXX
    Click Count = 6
    Last Click Time = 2006-12-09 09:33:42 PST

    Click alert threshold = 4
Click alert time window = last 3600 seconds

Thats 6 clicks from 1 IP in 1 hour. Should I contact Google? Or, is it normal.. and I should set the alert threshold to may be 10 clicks in 1 hour?

No, you should be fine. Six clicks isn't much to worry about. If you're worried that someone is intentionally trying to get your account banned, look for 30+ clicks from one IP in one hour.

I would say that it depends on your average CTR. To some MFA sites with high CTR's 4 clicks in an hour from the same person may be nothing unusual. However to other people who don't have many impressions or clicks this may be something to worry about.

Could you - by any chance - reveal the source for such a script?

I'd like to use this as well

Yes, the script looks very interesting.
I don't think you will get banned from AdSense. You might get a warning message, though.

I'll take a wild stab in the dark and say that he is using Adlogger. I haven't used it personally but a friend of mine said it is quite buggy. Perhaps a buggy script is to blame? Either way if you are in doubt you should contact Google, what do you have to lose if you are abiding by their TOS?

Thanks, I will reset the threshold to 20-25 clicks from 1 IP within 1 hour for now.
I am using Asrep ... they charge $50 though.

I use Adlogger and it IS completly free.. It's not 'buggy' per-se, but it does OVER count clicks..

Whether or not 6 clicks in an hour is a problem depends on your traffic & usual CTR.. for my site, i set the threshold at 7 clicks/hour. and i dont usually ban an IP until they get around 15-20 clicks (which does not happen often) - keeping in mind that 15-20 clicks in Adlogger may only be 5 clicks in reality.. My setting of 7 clicks/hr is based on about 9,000 unique vistors and 40,000 PV's per day...

On one channel I got 4 clicks with 1 impression the other day. It can happen occasionally, especially 2 or 3 clicks.

You have a lot less to lose by abiding to the TOS rather than flaunting it.

Adlogger over counts clicks on a few cases, right clicks... hover..... etc. It can't tell the difference.

If you are still afraid getting banned, just write an email to adsense support and report them the clicks. They will check and awnser very soon. I was in the same situation like you, they said the clicks were ok..
