I checked your website and last month you had 156 unique visitors, I launched my website yesterday and had already more visitors. I don't want to put you, or your site down, but you should re-consider what you want to offer your visitors and how you gonna reach them in the first place.

That'd being said, it's great to have Google as your number 1 traffic source because Google traffic is usually worth a lot, compared to cheap purchased traffic from somewhere else. My site is too new to speak about a top referrer, but I'd be happy to have Google as #1 spot as well!

So why not share how you got more visitors? Instead of leaving it as putting down.

    It's all about learning :)

You're right, I could have replied better. But there's really no "secret" behind my initial traffic. I'm just "spreading the word", but I got a bonus, he (and many beginners) doesn't have. And that it's a pretty large network of people in the business. I'm doing this since 10 years, that's why I know a lot of people and from these mails/IMs/forum posts etc, I'm going to reach 1k people within a week without doing much.

But still, he could do more as well. Esp. focusing on content, he's basically just c&p infographics he found somewhere else - this kind of content isn't going to bring him new visitors...

Right now I get more referral traffic (few webmaster forums I post on). As soon as Google will start indexing the site better, I hope to also get some of its traffic. Had attempted a paid campaign, so few visits came from there.

Hmmm isn't that the reason why he's posting the question? To seek advice from experts like yourself?

Well to be honest, he didn't ask any specific questions. He just asked what's your #1 traffic source and stated his is Google. Can't give any advice, if there's no question. And I already wrote, that unique content is important and just copying other peoples work/infographics, isn't going to cut it.

The search engines and the social networks are my number one traffic source. Search Engine Traffic, though, is the best traffic you can get online@

Search engine traffic is nice, but it's also competitive. You have to have a very compelling site in order to convince people that you have the best products/services.

Seriously guys, Google is playing us as it want ! every three month it changed it's Algorithm of searching.
Once, one of my websites has ranked in the first page of google search, now it's dying at the 3rd page.
So for my opinion, you should focus on social networks, why? because it's never dying also you build relationship with your visitors

I would be interested to know how you checked this. I've never seen a single online source that provides reliable information of this nature. Even Google Analytics only shows a small fraction of what my server logs show.

To answer the OP, my top 3 sources are:

    1. Twitter
    2. Rebelmouse
    3. Facebook

Google would probably be 4th or 5th.

Out of all the sites I've had, Facebook has always been #1 for me. Then again, I have a lot of friends on there so that helps. Having a thriving Facebook page and using advertising can give you a big push as well.

Mine varies. Most of the time Google traffic is #1, but I get a lot of direct traffic as well (from my podcast) so sometimes that tops the list.

That was pretty darn simple. He posted his GA stats on in a blog post...

I on the other hand would like to know how you use RebelMouse for generating traffic? I checked the website and it looks like it is some sort of CMS, right? A tool that helps you to organize your social streams, but doesn't offer any direct access to traffic like a search engine does or a social network like facebook or twitter?!
