Why Do Some Terms Pay So Much and Why Would You Promote Anything Else?

I looked in the FAQ first and couldn't really find my answer. I'm still a newbie at this dabbling in free blogs and Adsense and I really can't wrap my head around this.

How can there be search terms that pay so much and why would anyone be using Adsense for anything but those high paying niches? I've gotten about 20 clicks so far and made about $5. If I had been doing a lawyer or mesothelioma site and gotten just 1 click, I would have made over 4 times as much? Why does anyone promote anything besides these niches? Is the competition really over 100 times as fierce? What am I missing here?

Its all about traffic, ad size / placement, and relevancy. Your going to get more traffic on an image hosting site than a doctor site (more than likely). The image hosting site (more than likely) is going to have lower paying keywords. So what you have to do is find the correct placement and keywords that users click. Why would a user on an image hosting site click on a link that says "doctor laywers - dont get sued"? I suggest trying relevant ads. Post your findings as well, because this may have just worked for me. Thanks.

It's all about the traffic you can get to your site. High paying keywords also have highly competitive sites out there. When you are just starting out, it will be difficult to compete for se rankings with the other established sites, and this will result in low traffic.

    Low traffic = low clicks.

Keeping it simple and creating a site targeting lower paying keywords will mean less competition, and a higher likelihood that you can develop your site to rank higher in the search engines, thus creating more traffic.

    More traffic = more clicks.

If nobody would promote anything other than these high paying niches, it would generate a lack of competition in other niches, increasing the amount of visitors you would get but setting up a site in the now less popular niche, making the set-up of a lower-paying niche site more attractive than the high paying one .

As retarded as internet economy is, it still behaves like real economy.

I find that it takes time and effort to build traffic and get clicks. Lawyers is probably the most boring topic in the world to me and it's difficult to stay interested in promoting a site like that.

I think the answer is quite obvious. If everyone all of a sudden does a San Diego Lawyer website .. but only 10 sites are listed on Google results (where your traffic will likely come from) .. then only 10 sites will actually make it ..

Why do people build sites in other niches

Some of the high paying ones are saturated and it takes too much work to bring a site to #1....

Why would you put all your eggs in the same basket?

Even in the crazy net world, not everyone likes talking about the same thing. Everyone knows adult sites are best for traffic and $$$ but people have their own interests..

The other is to experience more thrill and double/triple your income

To build a business and not a one hit wonder.

Because you don't wanna be like everyone else

Because you want to enjoy the diamond while everyone runs for the gold

And because supply and demand says so...;)
