How much traffic from article submission sites?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by sz2006, Dec 9, 2006.

I'm trying to submit articles to some article sites like articlecity.
Anybody could tell me if it's worth doing? How much traffic I should expect from doing so?
Compared to social bookmarking, is article submission site a better means for link and traffic building?

    In my expirence:

Article submission is good for backlinks, but quite poor for traffic. However I find the quality of the backlinks is only ok.

Social bookmarking is good for traffic and quite poor for backlinks. However when you do pickup backlinks then tend to be good quality.

Both are worth the effort though.

I never expect to see traffic from article submissions, and haven't really tried social bookmarking. But if you want traffic - why not do article submission and get high serp's :)

I've seen spikes in traffic when my articles are first published. So far I've tried both on a small scale and the traffic is about the same. Some say that if the article is interesting that it will get picked up on blogs and rss feeds etc. which will increase traffic.

I agree with the above members. I always expect non-existence traffic from articles but great (highly relevant) inbound links :)

About 15 articles published on ezinearticles gave me around 350 visits per month. The topic was leadership/management.

I also submitted through articlemarketer and I'm getting small amounts of traffic from various websites that they distribute to as well. It has increased my inbound links from sites with relevant text.

However, if your article is picked up by a major site, it can have tremendous benefit.

I would suggest that when you write an article for your site also write one to distribute on the same topic. In the authors bio link to your site and deep link to the original article you published on your site using a relevant text anchor. This will give you a much bigger benefit than links that just point to the name of your site.

i disagree with you not earning traffic from article sites...you can but it will depend on the topic of your article and how it'll get someone's attention...

Last year with my old website, i submitted 10 articles about pets to the 20 majour article sites. Link-wise it was ok but traffic-wise it was very poor, i think i only got about 5-10 visits.

In my case article directories were just a waste of time (I got some one way links but they had no impact on my traffic or my rankings). I guess it depends what niche are you focusing on.

From my own experiiences, you may not get many targeted traffics from article site itself but you got one-way link and if your article is good enough then people will tell their friends about your articles.
