My opinion about Appraisals (and some facts too)

I use Estibot daily. There is no accurate domain valuation. It just gives a hint based on several criteria. The same goes with human appraisals and this forum too.

What did DP forum users wait to see from a domain that another user requests to appraise at this section? A single word .COM with CPC of $1000/click ?

No. The hard true fact is that the difference of a successful domainer from a wanna be domainer is the the first already lost several hundreds or thousands before he earns $$.

Domaining is not easy and 90% of the times most of the domainers fail and leave this area.
It doesn't gain a lot of respect either. We are blamed from plain web developers that we take all the names that they need to create their websites. I guess they don't blame realtors for buying and selling nice places too. Anyway.

I just wanted to say that if someone wants an appraisal then he didn't do his homework before he registered the name.
If he worked like this, is not bad but the chances to get positive opinions or high values drop a lot.

Now a common phrase is brandable domains.
    What does it mean ?
It means that you can be a "google" IF you build something useful on it.
OR in other words you have a good phonetic domain combination that you can TM and make it popular if you give a good reason for surfers to visit and revisit this website.
If you don't do this the name is useless as abcdefghjklmnopq.com (or to be fair you have more change to win a lottery, bet, bingo than to have a buyer at your doorstep)

My whole point here is that either someone gives an overpriced estimation from estibot and makes the domain owner hold the domain or if he says it's a crap doesn't help a lot.

Nobody can determine the price unless there is a very similar case you can refer.
Even in this case you maybe not so lucky to get the buyer in need that created the previous sale.
Also have in mind that reported sales are not confirmed sales.

What estibot does right is that you can use other data to have an overall idea of the value.
Like registration status of other TLDs, CPC values on exact and broad match, trends and Advertisers demand or not.

At the end the only one who gains from the domain is the registrar that charged you his fees.
Let's do our job right to be us above him

    BUT afterall that's my opinion..........

Everyone have their own opinion and they can estimate depends upon their knowledge in domain sales experience.

No one can give the exact price of domain names. It will be vary.

    IMO :)
