Is Making 300k online considered successful anymore?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by sundaybrew, Mar 23, 2014.

    Hi -

I was going to write an ebook about my story online,

What I want to know, is IF there would be any interest,

Is making 300k over 5 years on the internet even considered successful?

I mean, Instagram, Flappy bird, these sites / apps make that in one month/s.....

Would anyone care to learn? Would there be any interest in a real book from a real guy?

How do you know what they are making? I never thought
twitter would be 4 billion $$ in debt, but they are....
(last I heard, could be wrong...)

On top of that they owe money to each and everyone of their users. Let me name my price... $30k. I think it's fair enough. I have contributed a lot to twitter's success over the past few months. https://twitter.com/search?q=#twitterowes&src=typd

No offense, but that's like me saying that because I drive a Mazda and am the handsomest thing alive [sic] the company should give me free cars. The economy is based on people using a product because they like it, not because the product owes them a living.

That's 60K a year so I would say that is a great income compared how much most people make now a days.

I would say that many people would be interested in your story. I would. You need to frame it in a way that is interesting and fresh to make it stand out, though.

What is success? It's subjective IMO. Set your own goals and determine your own success opposed to comparing yourself to others.

Where are you guys getting these facts of Twitter being in debt... I found no article supporting your claims.

when I see stuff like: company has been unprofitable for 7 years, well, means debt...
    http://www.techvibes.com/blog/twitter-valuation-2013-10-04

and if they have not made a profit in 7 years, then I guess it would not matter much
that his report came out back in april/2013; twitter is a bad investment if they cant even turn a profit....

Do you have any report that says they have money in the bank? They may
seem like they make a ton, but they spend like 2-3 tons also; You just cant
make 1 ton of money, and spend 2 and make any profits...

I believe that success is making profit for your company period. Everyone has their own goals of wealth, and $300k is more than a lot of companies have made in five years. So I would say that your story is a success already.

It says they should send me $6,414. I'm not complaining though. I've made some extra money through Izea and Sponsored Tweets, so I'm glad they provided the environment.

As to the OP, I would definitely be interested. You should always take any opportunity you can to learn from the success of others.

    300k in 5 years? Ehh.. Now $500k, that's something!
I wrote a little ebook about how i did it a few years ago and that ebook did quite well.. I'm actually thinking now about writing a new/updated ebook about the same thing focusing around my newest successful website.

I think any business you start anywhere and you're still at it making money five years in is a success story. Doesn't matter if you're not making millions. Most newly started businesses never make anything, and are but a distant memory five years in, especially Internet businesses.

Hi Sundaybrew, it is quite interesting subject, that you posted. 300k is definitely impressive number ! hmmm ebook... In your case, think of who would be a potential buyer/reader of your ebook? Keep in mind that your level was achieved in 5 years, which means your starting point/experience dated 5 years ago. Same rules/experience cannot be applied today, because marketing and SEO changed a lot ( and i really mean a LOT since that time). But anyone who are so successful by today are worth to read and definitely there is something that we could learn from you. On the other hand, only the level or number that you achieved so far , does not make your story interesting and useful. People need useful information, guidance and the structure that is really working. We all know that any constantly updated project online, would be ranked high in 5 years. I see many sales on flippa or webdevelopers shouting loud how much traffic they get. If you look deeper, I will give an example: Vine clones, or something like "best vine videos" get a lot of traffic xxxxx|x k , but to me it's totally worthless. I run couple of websites which have 500 users(only!!) a day but generating more incomes than many websites with 10000k users a day! I am sure there some members on this community who have similar point of view and expirience... So getting back to your story - write about basic, unique, and timeless online success principles, that could be applied to any generation at any time! And let us know when your ebook will be available ! best of luck

300k for 5 years means 60k a year. If I work part time on such and earn 300k I would consider it an added bonus. But it is not really considered successful.

It depends on the market. For the online casino market, that is a pittance. For the online food delivery market, you are a king. So it is completely subjective.

I agree ...If it is part time added income, you are doing better than most NYC police officers. All NYC cops have 2 jobs.

I didn't know Twitter was in debt if they are. They might be, though if they don't have enough advertising options.
