    i suggest at first you use Dreamweaver and then use notepad++ , otherwise you won't understand the value of notepad++.

    I use Dreamweaver, but not (and I must stressed this) the drag and drop, rubbish code generating nonsense. I just like the syntax colour scheme. Also have installed a extension for zen coding so I can type

    and it will produce (when you hit tab)

    So basically as a colourful notepad with some shortcuts

    Amazing you say... yeah, I guess it is kind of amazing anyone is dumb enough to see merit in that buggy broken bloated halfwit bullshit that makes development HARDER (despite the wild claims to the contrary) and pretty much pisses all over any page that uses it; hardly a shock given that by it's very nature it -- much like every other HTML/CSS framework -- pisses all over the very reason CSS even exists.

    I do believe that Dreamweaver would be great to start out on while you start learning. I remember back in the day when there was Microsoft Frontpage. That is what I started out on and I really did learn a whole lot from using it.

    No stupid crap to get in your way, and it forces you to test in the actual environment instead of relying on some goofy UI crap that doesn't usually work like the real deal. Same reason preview panes are asshat bullshit; people get lazy about testing in the actual browsers as if hitting "alt-tab, F5" is some insanely hard thing to do...

    I've never actually used their test features - for exactly that reason. I love the formatting tools, the code suggestions for commands I use infrequently and the fact it picks up errors before I've uploaded to test.

    That would depend on many things, including your depth of knowledge in html, css and javascript. Personally, I prefer Notepad. It's simple, easy to use and free. I have used Dreamweaver in the past, but not only is it pricey, with it's WYSIWYG ability, people tend to get lazy in their coding. Then, it's not completely up to modern standards code-wise. For instance, when formatting text, it will often try to use the font tag, which is no longer considered correct. Notepad ++ is another excellent utility for editing code because it uses color coding within the text, making it easier to edit.

    I like Dreamweaver and CoffeeCup . Version 4 is good in Dreamweaver. CoffeeCup is very similar to Dreamweaver. CoffeeCup Uses HTML5 and CSS3.
