We know that the more links to external sites that you have on your page, the more watered down the link juice is for all the links on the page. We've found that 4 external links per webpage (no more!) is a good way to keep the stability of your own page's PR and the PR of the page you're linking to. Your thoughts?
There is no way to quantify the number of links per page. Good way is to add back links slowly as the website grows
Have you tested this with several of your sites or is it just some theory? I think the number of external links you have on your page should be judged on a cost basis. Are you selling the links? Are you seeing a drop in rankings on your other websites if you link to more than 4 websites. Personally, I try to keep my external linking to 5. This is what is cost effective to me.
i never saw any difference if i had 0 links to external sites or 10... there is absolutely no rule. i have some sites without PR with 0 external links and some with PR2 and PR3 with 5 external links... all sites get same organic traffic from google.
