Hi, I received a sales phone from Big Media Presence (SEO) in November. They offered me a months free trial to optimize my website. I genuinely forgot about this agreement and its has now rolled onto 3 months. They have sent be a bill for £480.00 which I am supposed to be paying just over £99.00 per month for. I have asked the company to send me a full progress report on what they have been doing to my website. They won't send me the report until I have been the full amount. I am a bit scepticle about paying this amount as I'm unsure what I'm paying for. My website doesn't appear on Google at all unless I type in my company name. They said they work on keywords to help find my site. I have have typed in every keyword relating to my business and my website doesn't appear? They have threatened me with a CCJ if I don't pay the full balance. I would be quite happy to comply with them if they sent me a full report but they seem very hesitant to do so. First of all, if you agreed to their service you should pay the bill and cancel future arrangements. However, they have to show you proof that they have actually done the work for you. Otherwise, how are they justifying the bill? You can see if your website has been getting any backlinks by checking with a free backlinks checker ahrefs.com. In order to force a CCJ they need to take you to court in which they need to explain that they have delivered the work promised. This will mean that they have to provide proof. It doesn't make sense why they wouldn't tell you what they did for you. Actually, what they did could be harmful for your site. This is not a ground for you to withhold payment. You should have checked and make sure that you wanted the service before ordering. It is surprising that they carried on working for you even though they were not paid. I would try to resolve the issue by talking.
Thanks for that. I have been on the site you suggested and it shows that I have had 16 backlinks? Not sure what these are? Is this worth the money they have asked for?
I have also now found out that they have been using the following to optimize my site: Source: weightlossforwomennow.com (example) Anchor Text: Kitchen fitting tyne and wear Target Url: Mywebsite. They have other sourced websites but they are all american sites??
Difficult to say. The tool is an indicator and it may take time for some of the new links to show. Also, it may take time for the links to make any affect on your search engine listings. If they have done a post about your business on one good website and it will stay there, that alone may be worth $70-$80. SEO is a long hard game and there is a chance people give up before succeed. I suggest you study a bit how it works and do it yourself if you are serious about your rankings. You will only need few links to rank for kitchen fitting in tyne and wear. Actually, it could be faster if you narrow it down and say kitchen fitting in Middlesbrough. You could start with listing in your area business association website, local directories and trade related websites. I have seen a few B&B owners getting the hand of it and ranking their businesses like a pro.
It looks like they have been playing around your site, They reason why you are not appearing in the search result is because of the spamming activity they have done, that's not just the way to optimise a website, I am pretty much sure that you have been penalised by the Google because of the over optimisation process. They might have put you into trouble and there are chances that you need to done a lot more things in order to get your place back in the eyes of search engine
When you search the name of the domain on Google, I see it on number 3. So, I wouldn't say the site is penalized entirely otherwise, it wouldn't rank at all.
your own domain without www or http and without the .co.uk, just the name. Enter it in Google search like digitalpoint and you will see your site on the first page.
