Hi I am looking for a free (of nearly free) tool to help me manage time effectively. I need to: - Add complex *layers* of task in - See what's important/urgent (at a glance). - Have tools to avoid procrastination - Move task from stage to stage (e.g. Ideas ==> To do ==> Doing ==> Stalled ==> Done ==> Archive) Here are some sites that I've been looking at: - http://simpleology.com – looks quite established but clearly has something of a learning curve. (Lots of daily wizards showing you how to use it) Tackles procrastination head on! - http://www.fractalplanner.com – Allows multiple layers of tasking. But no user forum. Seems slightly expensive... Newer, simpler but more basic than simpleology.com. Rather clunky user interface. - https://trello.com – A simple but very powerful project management tool. Has something of a following. Very cool. Has app. But hard to see what's urgent to do today. Also not brilliant at "layering" of tasks. Do any of you have any experience of the above? Do any of you have any other suggestions? With thanks J

I use Basecamp and I am happy with it. It costs a bit but offer 60 days no credit card trial option and if Free is what you are looking for, you can just create new accounts once the 60 days is off even though I think its worth the money you would be paying for it.
I'm followin GTD technique and RememberTheMilk as tool that implements its principles. You can try also evernote, i 've seen it is also rather good one. make your choice!
We use Kanban Tool. It was very easy to learn and to modify. Also, Basecamp is nice (however to "big" for us) and Remember The Milk is worth trying out (my wife use it for everything
I am using Basecamp as well and I have no issues with regards to using the software. I'm on it for over 2 years already and everything seems to be fine since from the start. By the way, Trello is also a good tool to use. I had my friend tried it and he told it was a good one. For time tracking, I use Time Doctor as it tracks time accurately. More efficient than those software I've tried before. It actually tracks both, attendance/time and your output/productivity. There is a free trial for the software (in case you want to try it).
