sorry in advance if this is the wrong sections. My stats keep getting messed up. They stopped working yesterday. My traffic stats were being updated like normal them randomly stopped updating. To make it more wierd i logged in earlier this morning and the stats were back to what they should have been at. Just got back in and now they went back down to what they were stuck at and are no longer updating. Any ideas on what might be going on?
There has been some bug from Google this weekend in GA, but seems sorted now. I usually include GA code in the <head> section, this way you're sure the JA scripts are run immediately. If you add it in the footer, it's usually bit less reliable. Hope this helps.
I would disagree a bit on this one: if loaded at the beginning, a small outage of the script would cause site's freezing (waiting for script to load). At the end, in my opinion it is most important for the audience to actually see the website (more than knowing that it has been tracked or not). IMHO of course
You're correct, if there's some issue from Google it might freeze the web page or increase page load time. Having said that that rarely happens and following some internal tests we done, seems stats are more accurate and actionable when placed in the head section. Let's say GS script is triggered cause it's in the head section, but the page don't fully load. You will still notice irregularities in GA stats, by looking at bounce rate, time on page, etc, etc. If placed in the end, you would never get this info
Eh eh you're right man Anyway, most of the time, we use a wp plugin to insert that piece of code, and I guess the plugin's programmer made the smartest choice...
