Good stuff. Having a grill you can put a lid over the whole thing helps. If you don't have one, get an injector, try it with beer. They sell stands here for doing it, helps keep things upright. Check walmart.com, if you cannot find one anywhere.

Try substituting rootbeer, and using a good KC style bbq sauce, painted on from time to time.

Strong, sweetened-to-taste sassafras tea can work too, But I think there is something to the carbonation that helps make it so good.

That and the alcohol... yeah I know it burns off during cooking but in the meantime the fact that the chicken is drunk cuts down on the screaming...

    Rootbeer, I never considered that??

I like to smash garlic into a pulp, mix it up with extra virgin olive oil, work it into the skin. Usually at this point I'll have a careful look and make sure that chick is nice and prepped. Then we cut a fresh lemon in 1/2. 1/2 you squeeze into the beer and the other you squeeze right over top of your chicks(s). Cook on bar-b nice'n and slow.

Of course this process takes time. Time is usually measured in 12 oz bottles. For me it's 12 and the chicken's done. This time frame may vary from person to person. Seriously it's damn good.

That's why you need the stand and a grill with a lid... to keep them upright, and it makes it harder for them to run away.

IBC root beer is best, but I don't think they put it in a can (can't say as I've looked) so an addendum to the instructions:

Empty as many 12oz beers as needed... fill with rootbeer.

I am hoping by "Empty as many 12oz beers as needed... fill with rootbeer." you mean "Drink as many 12oz beers as needed... fill the empty cans with rootbeer."

Noppid, you're brilliant why didn't I think of that? It seems that NetMidWest is not terribly interested in the beer...but the chicken, I can tell he knows what he's talking about.
Man, does that ever lok like my kinda fun. :) Wish I could be there.
