    Posting in forums similar to your niche with a signature that has a link back to your site and guest posting.

    There are many ways from where you can get backlink like directory submission sites, Bookmarking sites, Forum Posting , Web 2.0 sites etc.

    Social networking site will also help you to get more backlink.

    But try to get backlink from high PR sites.

    Don't go with quantity backlinks just believe in quality backlinks.

    There are tons of ways for getting backlinks. You can use forum signatures, article submissions, social media, social bookmarking, web directories, guest posting.

    yes u can dear for your site home page but it is more time consuming wait for approval from site for backlinks many sites not approve our site then it is wastage

    You can do directory submissions, must check PA, DA and page rank. I heard the website developed by PHPLD and PLIGG considered as SPAM, so becareful while doing directory submission.

    yes you can submit Directory submission in high pr websites, you should submit max 15 to 20 ds for your site in a one day!!

    blog commenting is also taking more time for approving. so easy way to build back-links is blog posting(web 2.0), classified submission and business listing(locally and globally). now article submission's links are not counting as per matt cutts http://www.searchenginejournal.com/matt-cutts-explains-use-article-directories-build-links/88093/ this article. so don't do article submission .. now getting result through seo means do less quality work and get quality results.
