I'm looking for some feedback on my latest sales/marketing text at http://stallion-theme.co.uk/ : selling a WordPress SEO Theme that's better than anything else available. I'm really good at SEO copyrighting (that's easy), also really good at explaining technical details (in great detail ), but not so good at marketing/sales text that converts. I loath the really spammy sales text that you can find in internet marketing type products, the "This will make you a millionaire overnight and you won't even have to lift a finger" sort of get rich quick BS, so trying for something more subtle that works. Problem is I don't make decisions on what to buy online like my target audience might (those who don't understand SEO very well), I would never fall for hype, can see right through it. I never lie about what's achievable etc... so it has to be accurate information (truthful) and that approach tends to not work that well IME. Few years ago an internet marketer who uses the spammy BS type over hyped marketing was selling a plugin and recommended his users buy one of my AdSense themes, I sold over £20,000 worth of themes due to that recommendation, so can only imagine how much money he made selling the plugin (was far from the best available as well). How do you promote an awesome product that your target audience doesn't understand is awesome because they don't understand SEO to a technical level that would allow them to appreciate what's possible? If your product or services are great and interesting you only need to reach your target audience and get possible conversions. If I were the user what would be my search terms to get my desired product or services <- this would be your target keyword phrase Know your target location Analyze the competition Create a timeline
I know what you mean, Staying truthful and clear is difficult in IM and it's easy to see a shortcut and want to take it. I guess it'll just have to be some clear but clever copy writing where you outline HOW this is good for them in a non-technical but 'dumbed down' way
