I'll probably switch eventually, but I'm in no hurry at the moment.

After carefully considering all of Vista's virtues as compared to its vices, I've finally made a decision...

I have been ordering and reading a lot of books on Linux...

I'm not switching anytime soon. I plan on waiting until I see how things go, then ask my sister what she thinks. She's a programmer at Microsoft (not working on Vista, though), but I figure she will know more about it than I will.

I will install Vista when I see first Service pack coming out, I think it is not worth losing my nerves... Maybe I'll make one partition for it and install it in dual boot system along with XP, but I'll take some time...

Hi mate_pl, I agree with you. You are still able to work with Windows XP if anything is to happen. Lol.. :D

I don't see the need for me to personally move to Vista. It requires boat loads of RAM and processing power just to run, and Windows XP, 98, and 2000 all meet my needs. Besides, running out and buying it will just put more money in the pockets of Microsoft.....so I think I will pass for now.

I would put this in the opposite way: If I had some extra time I'll switch to Vista and won't do anything serious on it by now :)

I have a desktop pc that is Vista compatible. I have 2 notebook pc's. One is Vista compatible, the other one is not.

I probably won't even look into Vista until late 2007 or early 2008. That should be time enough for MS to get most of the bugs out.

XP is all I need for now.

I think most people will wait as well.

I'm going to try switching to Linux, Ubuntu looks pretty damn good. It sure would be refreshing to move away from Microsoft.

I have been playing with Knoppix and Ubuntu...and I have it from a guy at work to take a look at MEPIS. It is supposed to be one of the more "client-side" focused distros that has a good installation system. It is supposedly rather friendly to converts coming from the Windows environment.

I have tried Live CDs of Knoppic and Ubuntu, and MEPIS is next up on my list. Sorry I cannot give you any personal details about it yet, but I hope to be playing with MEPIS over the holidays.

Knowing Microsoft, I would wait for the release of Service Pack 1 (At least !)
I am never confident with new products especially from Microsoft.

    Cheers !

I think after I buy new PC (something like January I'll take and new Vista Ultimate - at the moment i'm using Beta RC2 and I'm pretty happy with it (even that it's on virtual PC). I think it will be better than XP, so i won't hesitate and go for it. even i can consider pre order as reteep :)
