Okay, I had a site which had reached PR3 (I never knew it) then I closed it for a while. Now, I am launching it back and it still coming up as first or within first 5 on google, but has lost its PR

Any ideas on how I can get back/improve PR?

Without knowing anything about the domain, chances are you still have links pointing to it somewhere. I would however treat it as a new site and do some link building to get started. You might have to wait a PR update or 2 to see results but in the grand scheme of things what you really want is SERP placement (which you already have).

Build/rebuild the site for your users, not the search engine!

obviously I am building the site for users :D But for users to use, they first need to know/find it ;)

interstingly I also see site in google direcotry at PR3 but in google toolbar it is at PR0, which one is more reliable?

Improve your link popularity...submit your site to link directories....create an article and submit it to article directories...link exchange with quality, trusted and relevant sites...:)

Basically, to improve your PR, all you need is relevant inbound links from other pages.

Did you actaully take the site down while it was closed? If you did then thats why the PR went down. The PR is updated every 3 months so you might just get it back ina few weeks :)

If the site was taken down then make sure everything is back up in the same place and your outbound links are still active. If its a big enough site (say 35+ pages) then you could get PR3 without having to build any more external links, generally.

Register at google sitemaps and it will tell you if google is having any problems spidering your site.

It could aslo tell you if your pagerank has been updated too.

    :)

build backlinks in quality websites by directory submission, article submission, and free classifieds.
